In style contents page
1.
2. InStyle front cover
Masthead: The masthead of this contents page is in a burgundy and black colour
which is located at the top of the page. The text is in bold which indicates that it is the
most important text on the page. The InStyle name before the Contents masthead is
in burgundy, which adds colour to it but the contents in black shows that it’s the main
heading of the two.
Images: There is just one image used on this page and it is a long shot of a female
wearing a dress. The shot has been taken in high key lighting setup with dark
makeup, hair and clothing to match. The model has tanned skin which also goes with
the idea of the clothing and fashion theme. The dress is a sparkly black and gold
dress which indicates that the model is important and someone with a lot of money
and class. The quality of the main image isn't that high which is a down to the
contents page, as it doesn’t make it look professional.
Text: The text used is mainly to the left of the page, with the small titles of what is
included in the oncoming articles inside of the magazine itself. They have been
worded with catchy phrases so that it attracts the readers attention so that they would
want to read that article. Alliteration has been used in some places which could keep
the catchy sentence in the readers head so that they go back and read it later. Text
has been used to explain the main image over the top of the image’s background.
This has been done so that none of the details in the main image is overlapped with
text, but so we still know what is being described.
Colours: The colours used in the contents page are black and burgundy. This is used
on the masthead, the titles and the text. The titles are the burgundy colour whereas
the text itself is black. As both of these colours are dark colours, they tend to stand out
the most. The background of the page is white, so any audience who have trouble
seeing colours wont have a problem seeing the black/red on white text with them
being reverse colours. The model has a different colours scheme to the page layout,
the colour scheme on the main picture is brown, gold and tanned colours. This
includes her outfit, hair and skin colour. The background is either silver white to the
main image but it looks slightly pixelated or shiny.
Other information: The date issued is included just below the masthead. This usually
doesn’t appear in a contents page but it is there and can remind the reader of the date
released/volume number without having to turn back to the front page where it is
usually located. There is some information at the bottom left of the page which has
been wrote in smaller text to explain how the photograph was being taken and giving
credit to the company advertised and the photographer who took the image.
