Video on websites: Legal Aid programs are incorporating video into SWWS to assist clients with legal problems, to guide them to finding the resources they need on the website. See Arkansas LegalTube, AppalRed Legal Aid of KY, Iowa, Illinois Legal Aid Online, Colorado Legal Services, is using video and videoconferencing for trainings for advocates.
Examples:
AR: How to Answer a Lawsuit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XN3CWApzk90
CO: Tenant’s Rights at Foreclosure http://bit.ly/4a8ZMm
Also video/webcams for more collaboration between rural offices and larger offices to increase the expertise available to clients in rural locations. (Florida, Kentucky, Ohio)
New TIG grant starting in 2010: Atlanta Legal Aid Society (Kristin Verrill) will be doing a video project that will share generic footage that can be used across other states and programs, and allow specific jurisdictional info to be inserted.
Also, there are easy ways to use video to communicate your message. See Animoto.com/cause to apply for a free professional account. Upload 15 pictures, select music, add text, and the site will create a professional looking ‘video’ to post on your website or to download to a dvd and play at fundraising and other community events. Could also use Sreencast.com, like Colorado, to create screencasts to help clients navigate your website, or to host short videos. Free account allows 2GB of storage, or get a pro account with 25GB for $9.95/mo or $99 annually.
