WHAT IS THE AIM OF THE COURSE?
The aim of this course is to provide
high-quality, internationally-
recognised in-service training for
teachers of English.
The course will take approximately
150 hours of in-put sessions
divided into 30 sessions of 5 hours

Four language tasks between 750
and 1,000 words in length

METHODOLOGY .
Four classroom-related
assignments of between 1,000 and
1,500 words in length requiring
previous background theoretical
reading. These assignments should
also include a complete lesson
plan as an appendix.

Additional requirements:
8 guided peer observations (PO)
Attendance of at least 85 % of the in-put
sessions
Active participation, commitment and
involvement in the course.
Punctuality.
Be prepared to devote at least another
150 hours for reading, writing
assignments and observations.

For every task, observation or assignment
(in the three components) candidates will
be awarded a grade as follows:
PASS
MERIT
DISTINCTION
Not to Standard- Resubmission.
Additionally tutors will provide candidates
with written and oral feedback in a
positive/developmental approach.

PORTFOLIO.
All essays (C1 and C3), practical teaching
observations reports (PTO/C2) as well as the 8
peer observations reports (PO) are integrated
into the “candidate’s portfolio” which is
submitted to Cambridge with the comments
from the course tutors.
These portfolios are previously checked by an
external moderator in México (appointed by
Cambridge) who also sends her comments
about the candidates

HAND-IN DEADLINES
The moderation meeting is carried out
immediately after the end of the
course. By that time all portfolios
have to be complete.
Therefore it is important that all
candidates make their best effort
to meet the deadlines and avoid
accumulating pending work towards
the end of the course.

FINAL RESULTS.
Once the moderation meeting takes place,
a selection of portfolios with a complete
report about ALL the candidates are sent
to Cambridge.
The Cambridge board of examiners holds
meetings three or four times a year.
Depending on the date the final reports are
sent, results are received from 6 to 12
months after the end of the course.
