Good morning students! Today we will be learning about the history of Colombia. Colombia is located in northwestern South America, bordering the North Pacific Ocean, between Panama and Venezuela. Colombia has a population of over 48 million people and its capital and largest city is Bogota. Some key facts about Colombia include that it has over 1,100 miles of coastline along both the Caribbean Sea and the North Pacific Ocean. Colombia has a very diverse landscape that includes the Andes Mountains, tropical rainforests and plains. The official languages are Spanish and several indigenous languages are also spoken. Colombia has a very rich cultural heritage influenced by its indigenous groups and colonial history under Spanish rule.
