  • During the winter months students paint from photos of animals
  • Sculpture This is a hands on project that introduces concepts in three-dimensional art Clay Handbuilding Techniques Used: •Slab •Scratch & Slip
  • Students study Auguste Rodin and “The Thinker”
  • Students create sculptures that honor unique activities or careers “The Babysitter”
  • “The Spaghetti Thrower”
  • “The Bull Fighter” “The Hair Braider”
  • “The Fish Catcher” “The Piano Player”
  • Culture This interdisciplinary project connects to the 6th Grade Social Studies curriculum. Specific culture studied: •Navajo Native Americans
  • Navajo Sandpaintings
  • Printmaking Through a variety of media, students learn about the history of the printing press and the process of duplicating an image.
  • African Adinkra Cloth Bookbinding Lesson with Printmaking Process: Stamping
