Lab 10: Regulating Your Motivation This week in lecture we discussed how you can apply the SRL cycle to regulate your motivation. The purpose of this lab is to give you the opportunity to assess your academic motivation then work through the process of regulating your motivation.
Today ’s lab starts with the Lab 11 PPT. Weekly PPTs guide you in engaging in the self-regulated learning cycle by thinking about how things went last week, what you would like to accomplish this week. In order to be useful for you, your PPTs need to be thoughtful/reflective, you need to be setting TASC goals, you should be paying attention to the challenges you are encountering each week. Are they the same ones? Why? What can you do to break this cycle. Overall, PPTs should take you about 10-15 Mins. Start the PPT… When you are finished click 'submit all and finish ’ You can also save your work by clicking “save without submitting” and return to it at any time.
The final stage of Collaborative Challenge 2 involves individually reflecting on the group process and your contributions to that process. By doing this immediately after your collaborative experience, you will think of things that will help things go more smoothly in your future collaborations. The PPCR asks you to reflect on what went well in the second Collaborative Challenge & what you would like to improve in the future. You will need to review your audio recording before completing this. You can find your audio recording in your email or moodle messages. This final part of collab challenge 2 is due Friday November 25 th at midnight (worth 5 Marks)
Earlier this semester (Week 2), you completed a questionnaire that assessed your strengths and weaknesses as a learning. Today, complete the SLQ (Time 2) again to assess how your self-regulated learning has developed. Your WebQ username is the first part of the email you were using at the beginning of the semester. Your password is edd101. If you were provided with an alternative log in by me earlier in the semester, use that one. In the next activity, you will interpret your scores as well as your progress over the semester.
Now that you have learned about self-regulating your learning, interpret your progress by completing the SLQ Reflection Note. When you have finished the questionnaire you will be able to review a report. For each learning processes (e.g. Rehearsing, selecting, etc), your receive two scores: 1) an INTENT score telling you about how you intended to study (e.g. Rehearsing INTENT) and 2) an engagement score telling you about how you really studied (e.g. Rehearsing). Your scores are in red. Ignore the blue scores. The SLQ reflection note asks you to compare your INTENTIONS (how you intended to study) with your ENGAGEMENT (how you really studied) for each learning processes by looking at the corresponding scores for each learning process.
