  • 12. Relating NID curriculum with PSS
    • Design Concepts & Concerns: 2 week Design process course offered to beginners brings macro to micro perspective on design in local and global context. Prepares students to deal with ambiguity and complexity.
    • Craft Documentation: 3 week course based on extensive field research, cover extensive documentation of tools & processes, socio-economic, anthropological, ecological issues in handicraft sector / cottage industries developing opportunities for intervention as a product/service. Course is moving towards indigenous knowledge systems.
    • Eco-Design: 2 week Sensitisation course focuses on green design and sustainability, with an emphasis on product design, eco-efficiency, Life Cycle Assessment and Product Service Systems.
    • Systems Design: 10 week project brings perspective on systems thinking and its relation to design. Dealing with complex issues. Live Project based on extensive field work, complex systems modeling and design intervention with respect to product, services, policies, infrastructure, communication, social innovation etc.

  • 25. Systems thinking & Design: Project
    • This project involves the application of the systems approach towards a design problem.
    • How component of a system can be understood in the context of relationships with each other and with other systems, rather than in isolation.
    • Theme based projects are undertaken, function-based systems such as, health, education, sanitation, Public utility systems which can cover a wide range of problems areas.
    • To look for leverages where a design intervention could have a ripple effect on all components and sub-components in a positive way.
