2. Andrew Goodwin defined
many key aspects of music
videos, some being:
The Star Image
Narrative and performance
Relation to visuals in the song
Technical aspects
Thought Beats.
3.
We spent a lot of time
planning what costumes to
wear. We needed to be sure
what we had on went with the
narrative, which we feel it did.
This is one way how our video
links to Goodwin’s theory.
4.
Though we did have a narrative
it wasn’t a common narrative
and you do only get a gist of the
meaning of the song. We paid
extra close attention to the lip
synching/miming as we need
the audience to believe it is real.
This, again, links with
Goodwin’s theory.
5.
We used Goodwin’s theory of
AMPLIFY: when meanings
and effects are constantly
shown. We used group base
tracks over and over again for
the chorus to highlight the
meaning of the song as well as
slow motion.
6. We edited to the beat of the song to
keep it interesting and we used
slow motion in some sections to
again gain interest.
We chose to film at the barbican as
it looks professional and the miseen-scene was great.
We used a top light for some shots
so all our lighting was good. The
top light shots were used for the
chorus only.
7.
We have a clear structure in our
song where the audience is able to
tell where the verse, pre-chorus
and chorus are. The verses are shot
with an individual group member
and the pre-chorus/chorus are shot
with all members in shot. It is all
shot like we are telling the
audience a story, which makes this
video a ‘communication device’.
