Based on the concept of “data-link”, 7 friends developed the idea through friendship, entrepreneurship and technological innovation. As a result, D-Link corporation was established in 1986. D-Link’s mission is: “Building Networks for People.” For the past 27 years, D-Link has consistently contributed to the design, manufacturing and marketing of advanced networking solutions. In doing so, we have made technology affordable and convenient, and provided an unequaled digital network experience for everyone. We empower our customers to fully utilise networking as a platform for everything, everywhere.
D-Link has lined up related networking companies with investment ties to insure product availability is accelerated.
Market characteristics vary from region to region and D-Link highly respects local markets by steadily building our business with local talent from each region. D-Link has a broad global presence with 189 offices located in 66 countries and 2786 employees (as of the end of Dec. 2013). 99% of D-Link employees are locally-hired.

Despite facing the Global Financial Crisis in 2009, D-Link maintained a high level of revenue and kept growing in 2010. However, in 2013, owing to the European Financial Crisis and Exchange rate loss, in the fiscal year totals from December 2013, D-Link reported a consolidated revenue of $1.026billion (USD), slightly decrease 0.63 % year-over-year

As shown on the left, D-Link takes Broadband Forum as a reference point to provide networking solutions to service providers (Telco, ISP – Internet Service Provider, MSO-Multiple System Operator).
From bottom to top, it illustrates Access to Home and application. Using Broadband architecture, combined with some other standards bodies (ITU-T, Cablelabs, IEEE, MEF, 3GPP, Femto forum), we can provide a variety of products for xDSL, GPON, Cable mode, VoIP Gateway, Carrier Switch, Femto AP to service providers as network infrastructure. With some home gateway and home networking standards (HGI, MoCA alliance, HomeGrid, WiFi, DLNA, UPnP), D-Link provides a QoS-enabled gateway, wi-fi routers, power-line communications, MoCA bridges, etc. to create a better user experience within the home. All applications (Service provider energy management, communication, surveillance, residential networking) are in addition to the devices we provide.
On the right it shows that all devices are managed using industry standards such as TR-069, EMS-element Management System and HMS-HomeNodeB Management System. In addition, D-Link Provides proprietary tools (RSS-Remote Support System) for service providers to more efficiently configure devices and troubleshoot any faults during installation, which reduces operating costs by lowering the number of support calls.

D-Link became the first company to gain Carbon Footprint certification ISO:14067 on Ethernet switches in November 2010.
All of D-Link products fully comply with the EU’s RoHS & WEEE standards, and our new products are fully compliant with EuP since 2010. To protect both our customers and the environment, we never use hazardous materials, and we are committed to recycling and energy conservation.
TÜV Rheinland rated D-Link a 5 STAR organization that uses best-in-class practices for environmental issues.
We were the first networking company to become registered as an ENERGY STAR partner as part of a global initiative to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions, ensuring that our power adapters now comply with strict energy-efficiency guidelines (Level 5).
D-Link has been leading green innovation within the networking industry primarily for 2 reasons:
– Human Touch: we carefully consider human nature and concerns so that we are both user-friendly and eco-friendly.
– Current Technology/New Applications: we emphasize innovative applications, rather than just remain a competitive player in technology.
D-Link is not only concerned about power-saving and material acquisition, but also about providing an appropriate set of functions in our products that empower a user to reduce the number of devices required.
D-Link launched the world’s first Green Ethernet product and our eco-friendly path has grown consistently. We have environmental product declarations (EPD) already verified for Ethernet Switches and the Digital Home Media PCR, and 70% of our first tier suppliers now comply with the ISO 14064-1 standard. The 2012 target is for 80% of our new products to be D-Link Green certified.
D-Link product development is guided by “Life Cycle Awareness.” This mentality helps us to continuously improve the environmental aspects of our products and processes in each phase of the product life cycle. This includes considerations all the way from conceptual design through raw material acquisition, until the product's end of life. All new D-Link products since 2008 have adhered to these guidelines.
D-Link’s core competence has been built upon our innovative networking technology and global market experience over the past 25 years. This core competence brought D-Link to where we are today and we are confident that it will lead us to better future.
D-Link’s three long term commitments are:
– A commitment to our mission slogan, “Building Networks For People.” To provide customers with an unmatched experience in networking, which will reach new heights through affordability, ease of connectivity and human touch.
– A commitment to being a responsible Global Brand – environmentally, socially, and financially.
– A commitment to being the world’s best networking company, bringing value to customers and partners around the world.
