4. Lobularia maritima Sweet Alison is a low-growing flowering plant in the family Brassicaceae, native to the Mediterranean region. It is an annual plant (rarely a short-lived perrenial plant) growing to 10-30 cm tall. The leaves are 1-4 cm long and 3-5 mm broad, oval to lanceolate, with an entire margin. The flowers are sweet-smelling white (rarely pink or lavender), with four petals; they are produced throughout the growing season, or year-round in areas free of frost.

5. The White Mustard is an annual white flower sometimes tinged with violet, about 2cm wide. Flowers from early autumn to late spring. This is a very common plant in Buskett. Diplotaxis erucoides

6. Oxalis pes-caprae The Cape Sorrell is a herbaceous perrenial plant that spends summers as a bulb and then it blooms in winter and spring. The leaves are trifoliate with long petioles. It was introduced in the 19th century, and spread from Malta to the entire Mediterranean and even up the Atlantic coast to the British Isles. It grows virtually everywhere and is very common in Buskett. It has perennial roots buried deep in the ground and its leaves are trifoliate, green, with obcordate lealets. The flowers are yellow. It flowers between March and May.

7. Borago officinalis The Borage is an annual plant that grows rough with many bristles. Flowers are bright blue with a whitish centre, 20-25mm, star-shaped. It grows to a height of 60-100 cm, and is bristly-hairy all over the stems and leaves; the leaves are alternate, simple, and 5-15 cm long. It produces plenty of seeds and thus continues to grow and spread from where it is first sown or planted. It is very common in Buskett

8. Chrysanthemum coronarium The Crown Daisy has pale yellow flowers, from December to June. It has many false and true leaves in the central part of the flower. The carpels and stamen are very small and inconspicuous. It is a very common plant in Buskett

9. Galactites tomentosa The White Thistle is very common in Buskett. Leaves are pinnately-lobed, toothed with white veins above. Flower heads on Malta remain white, whereas those on the continent turn to purple and lilac, solitary or in branched clusters. Found on dry ground, fallow land and garigue. Flowers between April and July.
