Builds a culture within the company
Set goals for the company (both financial and
productivity)
Implement the requests of the Air New Zealand Board
3. Main Reason

Regularly spends a day doing various jobs within the airline

Mr Fyfe listens and learns
For example:- Early in 2005 the company was going to out source aircraft maintenance to overseas

listened to the workers and others and chose to reverse the decision in the best long-term interests
of the workers and also the company.
Mr Fyfe tackles difficult tasks
Mr Fyfe was instrumental in making an apology for the company’s behaviour after the Erebus
crash in 1979
He was the face of the company after the crash of an Air New Zealand A320 off the coast of
France in 2008. He showed sympathy and had empathy with family members and staff effected
