Searching for an Article Type: Reviews PubMed identifies articles that are reviews or research studies • MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) are attached to all articles to help you find exactly what you’re looking for... 1. Select MeSH from the drop down menu & enter review 2. Select the publication type result & add to search builder 3. Click Search PubMed Your results are ALL the review articles in PubMed

Searching for an Article Type: Research PubMed identifies articles that are reviews or research studies • MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) are attached to all articles to help you find exactly what you’re looking for... 1. Select MeSH from the drop down menu & enter study characteristics Your results are ALL the research articles in PubMed 2. Select the publication type result & add to search builder 3. Click Search PubMed Remember: Some research articles are also review articles!
  10. 10. PubMed: Searching for an Author 1. Navigate to the Advanced Search screen 2. Select Author from the drop down menu. 3. Make sure you identify the correct author. This may take some critical thinking on your part... Click on the title to open the abstract Click the Author’s name & run a search for this EXACT Kregel NOTE: We get different result sets for each Author search.

  12. 12. Searching by Topic: Using Keywords All articles indexed for Medline are tagged with MeSH terms A keyword search in PubMed will try to include relevant MeSH terms Keyword searches usually work pretty well for simple concepts or single ideas
