▪ We learn from history that the Romans were
some of the worlds worst executioners!
▸They were known for burying people alive,
burning them at the stake, feeding them to wild
animals and crucifying them!
▪ The three worst forms!
▸3rd being burned alive!
▸2nd feed to wild beast!
▸1st being crucified!

6. Out of all the ways Christ could have
died, why did he choose this one?
▪ I am not sure anyone has the answer but
God and it seems to be beyond our
understanding!
▪ This just goes to show how much He
loves us and what He was willing to
endure for us!
▪ Jesus really understood what it means to
“put others before self!”

▪ Even though He had done nothing wrong
He is treated as the worst of criminals!
▸2 Cor 5:21 For He made Him who knew no
sin to be sin for us, that we might become the
righteousness of God in Him.
▪ He hung in our place!
▸Gal. 3:13 Christ redeemed us from the
curse of the law by becoming a curse for
us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who
is hanged on a tree”

▪ Jesus was unlike any of us, it was God on that
cross!
▸Mt 1:23 "Behold, the virgin shall be with child,
and bear a Son, and they shall call His name
Immanuel," which is translated, "God with us."
▪ Our Maker and Creator came down from heaven
to become our Savior!
▸Jn 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt
among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as
of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace
and truth.

▪ 2 Cor 5:21 For He made Him who knew
no sin to be sin for us, that we might
become the righteousness of God in Him.
▪ Heb 4:15-16 For we do not have a High
Priest who cannot sympathize with our
weaknesses, but was in all points tempted
as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore
come boldly to the throne of grace, that we
may obtain mercy and find grace to help in
time of need.

11. III. The Message of the Cross!
▪ The cross of Christ is the greatest event in the
history of the world!
▸It is at this point the world is forever changed!
▸It is at this point that men are given hope
again!
▪ Until His blood was shed men couldn’t be truly
forgiven!
▸Heb 10:19 Therefore, brethren, having
boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of
Jesus.

▪ 1 Cor. 15:1-4 Moreover, brethren, I declare to
you the gospel which I preached to you, which
also you received and in which you stand, by
which also you are saved, if you hold fast that
word which I preached to you--unless you
believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all
that which I also received: that Christ died for our
sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was
buried, and that He rose again the third day
according to the Scriptures,

13. Conclusion:
▪ Freedom is not free! The gift of
salvation is free to us, but it cost Jesus
everything!
▪ Never lose sight of the cross of Christ!
▪ Have you come to know the one that
dead so you might live? That left the
glory of heaven for a hill in Golgotha?
▪ Truly we serve an amazing God!
