 “ Artificial intelligence is the study of how to make machine
that can think and act like human , that are able to learn and
use their knowledge to solve problem on their own.”
 Artificial intelligence is a branch of science which deal with
helping machines find solution to complex problem in a more
human like fashion.
 Artificial intelligence is generally associated with computer
science but it has many important link with other fields such
as math, psychology, biology and philosophy etc.
 The idea of AI goes as far back as ancient Greece, a
blacksmith who created mechanical servants.
 Fast forward to 1935, when the earliest substantial
work in this field was done by Alan Turing, a logician
and computer pioneer.
 1941: First electronic computer
 1951: Christopher Strachey wrote the first successful
AI program
 1956: John McCarthy coined the term Artificial Intelligence
 1960s: Checkers-playing program that was able to play games
with opponents .
 1963: ANALOGY, a program created by Thomas Evans, proved
that computers can solve IQ test analogy problems
 1967: First successful knowledge-based program in science
and mathematics.
 1997: A chess program, Deep Blue, beats the current world
chess champion.
 2000: First sophisticated walking robot.
 Expert systems.
 Natural Language Processing (NLP).
 Speech recognition.
 Computer vision.
 Robotics
 Game playing
 These are Software's used for decision making
 An Expert System is a computer program designed to act as
an expert in a particular domain (area of expertise).
 The goal of NLP is to enable people and computers to
communicate in a natural (humanly) language(such as,
English) rather than in a computer language
 The primary interactive method of communication used by
humans is not reading and writing, it is speech.
 The goal of speech recognition research is to allow
computers to understand human speech. So that they can
hear our voices and recognize the words we are speaking.
 People generally use vision as their primary means of sensing
their environment, we generally see more than we hear, feel
or smell or taste.
 The goal of computer vision research is to give computers this
same powerful facility for understanding their surrounding.
Here A.I helps computer to understand what they see through
attached cameras.
 Robotics are engineering attempts to duplicate the physical
attributes of humans.
 Robotics is an engineer. Attempt to duplicate the physical
attributes of humans.
 The precision of Robots in doing the work is more than that of
human.
 A.I used in game designing.
 Games appear to be a good domain by which machine
intelligence can be explored because they provide a
structured task by which one can measured success or failure
easily.
 The Human have Feelings.
 The human mind is a wonder of nature, nothing is
comparable with it.
 The Neuron system of the Human mind is a complex
connection of billions of neurons, which can not possible in
computer.
 Human can present any information at proper time & place,
The computer can not do this.
 AI, when given the information can be exact, every time with
speed. When HI is given the same information, it can not be
as exact, and is slower.
 Processing and memory are performed by the different
components. Processing and memory are performed by the
same components in the brain.
 Artificial intelligence researchers have developed several
specialized programming languages for artificial intelligence
which include IPL, Lisp, Prolog, STRIPS, Planner, POP-11 etc.
 Home Security
 Bank
 Post office
 Digital cameras
 Health and medicine
 Games and toys
 The main advantages of AI is high speed, great efficiency,
accuracy, make task very easy.
 Don’t need sleep.
 Save the time.
 Many of our health problems now have possible solutions
with the use of Artificial Intelligence in studies at universities.
 There will be less injuries and stress to human beings.
 AI will be discovered ,than mostly work will do it and human
will lose its ability and intelligence
 It will take long time to build
 Can’t Handle Emergency Situation
 Difficult code
 High Cost
 Limited Ability
 Artificial Intelligence is the science and engineering of making
intelligent machines, especially intelligent computer
programs.
 Thus AI is the branch of the science which generally involves
borrowing characteristic from human intelligence and apply
them as algorithms in a computer.
