1. Slasher films is a sub-genre of horror films. Slasher films usually involves a psychopathic killer preying on a broad range of victims. Slasher films can aslo be dinstingushed by its choice of weapons ranging from a knife to a chainsaw, the use of unconventional weapons such as a scythe depicts the strange nature of Slasher films in conjunction withs its secluded locations. Slasher films in contrast, to any other horror films specially concentrates on the act of murder.

3. Influential development: Another influence which helped stimulate the slasher sub-genre was the Italian Giallo. This fim genre consisted of various fim directors such as Dario Argento and Mario Bava . These films were recognized by its horrific murder scenes and its specific attention to graphic details. The most notable being Blood and Black Lace (1963) & Twitch of the Death Nerve (1971).
