Two STEM Labs at Every Elementary
While each elementary’s new labs will look a little
different, they will include the following standards
developed by the STEM lab committee :
 Side by side
 High visibility
 Open and adaptable
 Ample storage
 Adequate square footage
 Lots of white board space
 Technology
 Lots of counter space for experiments and projects
 Plenty of outlets
 Student washing station
 Appropriate staffing

The CTHEI course…
 Covers curriculum for CTE exploring careers and
eighth-grade technology applications courses
 Allows students to share information and make
decisions that fit their needs
 Includes opportunities for counselors to meet with
students
 Allows students to participate in blended online
learning
 Hosts speakers from the community to share real-
life descriptions and stories of various higher
education experiences and/or careers
 Adapts yearly to reflect changes in the high school
courses and in student needs and interests

TCC Partnership
 Offer technical dual credit courses for many
courses offered at the CTE Center
 2+2 Degree Program
 Students obtain stackable credentials
 Share learning space to create course opportunities
for TCC and AISD students
 Learning day to include evenings, weekends and
summer for technical dual credit
 Mix/combine AISD students with TCC students as
appropriate to maximize course opportunities

STEM Academy
Students will:
 Be prepared to pursue a STEM-related career
 Develop professional life skills in preparation for a
career in STEM
 Be part of the STEM cohort - a group of students
that will take their STEM-related academic
curriculum and core classes together in a
collaborative environment
 Have the opportunity to select a STEM pathway of
greatest interest: engineering, biology/biomedical
science, computer science or math/science
 Earn pre-AP, AP and dual credit with UT Arlington in
STEM coursework
STEM Academy
Students will:
 Experience integration of STEM content into other
core classes such as English and history
 Have the opportunity to complete university courses
in their pathway
 Be prepared to pursue a college degree in a STEM-
related major in college
 Engage with professional and educational mentors
to assist in their own personal growth and
development in the STEM field
 Experience enrichment opportunities that provide
meaningful STEM experiences outside of class
 Participate in a capstone course and/or internship
during their senior year
