The University of Chicago is hosting its 31st Annual Middle East History and Theory Conference on May 6-7, 2016. They are inviting graduate students, faculty, and independent scholars to submit proposals on any topic related to the Middle East or Islamic world from the rise of Islam to present day. Approximately 50 papers will be selected to present on interdisciplinary themed panels. Submissions must include a 250-word abstract by February 12, 2016 and selection results will be announced in mid-March. Limited travel funding may be available for special panels on modern Arabic literature and Central Eurasian studies.
