1. My Leadership Camp Experience – Ou Young Yu Xin
My March holiday can categorized as a very meaningful holiday. During this holiday, I had
joined a leaderships training camp which was organized by Rotary Club Bukit Kiara Sunrise and
sponsored by CIMB Bank. Without wasting any precious time, I must grabbed this opportunity to
thank CIMB Bank which willing to sponsor us for the camp, all the Rotarians from Rotary club of
Bukit Kiara Sunrise who organizing this camp and give me the opportunity to join it, my mentor,
Mr. James who informing me about this camp and lastly, the trainers from EQTD who had
taught me a lot of things throughout the camp.
This camp was a 4 days 3 nights camp and was located at Agrotek Garden Resort, Hulu Langat.
Throughout the camp, there were several Rotarians who spent their time with us. They were Dr.
Yee, Dr. Kong, Mr. Graham and few more other Rotarians. I really felt touched when I saw them
accompanied all of the camp members throughout the camp. Some of them even joined us of
activities. Their hard work will be appreciated and remembered forever in my heart. I had learnt
a lot from the Rotarians. As an example, Dr. Yee taught me how to overcome problems which I
always face in life. He also taught me to be an open minded person and accept others’ opinion.
Moreover, I must thank Mr. Graham who was the chairman of the camp. He had put in a lot of
efforts and with the help of others Rotarians to organize this camp. All the activities that he
planned for the camp were extremely useful.
In addition, I must also thank Mr. Shankar, Mr. Andy and Mr. Selva who were the camp’s
trainers. They had taught me a lot of things such as teamwork, shared opinions with others,
changed myself before I changed anything around me and made my own choice to succeed.
They also motivated me to do well in my coming soon STPM examinations. Furthermore, Mr.
Selva also gave me some tips on how to do well in STPM. Now, I have made my choice to study
hard and achieve my goal that I have set earlier this year. I must work hard to achieve it. “A
short period of hard-work; will in return, be rewarded with a long period of happiness,” which I
learnt from Mr. Shankar.
I had learnt a lot throughout this camp. As an example, I learnt how to communicate and mixed
well with friends from SMK Sri Permata who I just knew them from the camp. Besides, when we
went for jungle tracking, I learnt that helping and supporting each other were extremely
important. I had great fun with them when we took part in all the activities together. They were
very friendly and helpful. The most memorable thing about them was they had high spirit in all
activities. They did not give up easily although the obstacles or tasks were difficult. I was totally
inspired by their spirit. Moreover, after the camp, I finally understood the meaning of sharing is
caring when I shared my study experience with them. I was selected as the team leader on the
second day. From there, I learnt that I couldn’t lead and maintain a team if I performed one-
man-show. I must cooperate, encourage and communicate with my team-members.
Lastly, I would like to thank my parents who allow me to join the camp. They fully agreed I
joined this kind of leadership camp so that I can learn from the camp and become a great leader
in the future. I sincerely thank again to all the Rotarians of Rotary Club Bukit Kiara Sunrise, CIMB
Bank, trainers from EQTD and friends from SMK Sri Permata. Without any of the parties, this
camp would not go well and it would not be fun. I hope that I have other opportunity to join
such camp which organized by Rotary Club Bukit Kiara Sunrise. I had learnt a lot from the camp.
