Nstp experience
1. Eljane Venus P. Dumo Group Kalipulako
Taking up NSTP I is fun and informative at the same time. I have learned many things
from the beginning of the lecture about the Bill of Rights, up to the last meeting about LTS.
Also, I learned much about the environment and know that whatever I learned there, will never
be forgotten just that I should be able to apply the knowledge I have acquired. Before, I thought
that disaster just causes destruction to human lives and material but the truth is it also disrupts
the functioning of society. I also found out that the reason why disasters occur is not only
because of climate change or unbalanced ecosystem, but also because of the ‘low level of
political and social organization’, which has been discussed by Ma’am D. So I realized, in order
to prevent disasters, we should be united, organized and start doing good things for the
environment. I had a lot of fun listening to the lecture about drugs too, although I have
completely made up my mind not to take in any harmful drug, the information I have heard will
be of great help. I will be more careful not to trust strangers, now that I know that there is
ROHYPNOL, the ‘Date Rape Drug’ which causes amnesia, fatigue, dizziness to the victim.
I really enjoyed the activity about Disaster and Risk Management, I learned about how to
make the triangular bandage useful since it can be used as first-aid kit. How to use the fire
distinguisher has been experienced by my other classmates and as I watch them having fun I paid
close attention on how it should be operated since it is a serious matter. Last but certainly not the
least is my experience in rappelling, it was my first time ever and I was nervous, but since I had
enough courage that day, I had done it successfully. After the activity, I realized that it is not an
easy kind of fun; it also involves discipline and concentration in order to accomplish it safely.
That day, I had idea on what firefighters do, and that I had admired them for risking their lives in
order to save other people.
In NSTP I, I have been taught to be a responsible adult. The last lecture encouraged me
more to participate since it is in fact one of our basic human rights which we often neglect. I also
made up my mind that I will be taking LTS for NSTP II because I want to help children and
share what I know without asking for anything in return. By doing simple things, we can
contribute to our nation’s development because remember that big things come from small
things.
