Creating Objectives
Bloom’s Taxonomy
Cognitive – Knowledge
 Define, Identify, Label,
Demonstrate, Classify, Assess

 Prepare, Imitate, Operate,
Develop, Create, Utilize
Domain – Attitude
 Discuss, Explain, Relate,
Integrate, Modify, Perform,
Arrange
SMART Framework
 S: Specific
 M: Measurable
 A: Action Oriented
 R: Reasonable
 T: Timebound
At the end of this workshop,
participant will be able to……..
followed by a “action” verb.
Objective
2: Rewrite
objectives
using
Bloom’s
Taxonomy

Example # 1
Objective: Provide participants with
knowledge about how the library works.
Objective: After taking the Research
Methods course, participants will be able
to find ten sources for a research paper
1616
Example # 2

 Learner Characteristics
 Experiential Learning: determine methods of application
 Duration of Activities
Planning for a Workshop

Envisioning the Lesson
 Run the lesson through your mind like a video in your head
 What will I be doing? What will the participants be doing?
 What resources will I need to deliver my workshop?
 Am I using the technology I have available as well as
possible?
Objective
3: Create a
workshop
lesson plan
using a
lesson plan
template

Benefits of using Lesson Plan
 Provides structure & flow for the lesson
 Guides the facilitator during the workshop
 Manages the lesson to ensure balance of participant
engagement
 Should focus on what participants will be doing during the
session
 Manages timing
 Supports transferability to other facilitators
