1) The document discusses the numbers and types of plastics used in products and what chemicals can migrate out of each type of plastic into other materials.
2) All plastics are said to migrate toxins over time that can be harmful, including known carcinogens, developmental and endocrine toxins, and neurotoxins. Specific harmful chemicals are linked to each type of plastic number.
3) Alternatives to plastics are discussed but recycling is deemed not viable, biodegradable plastics are not a real solution, and burning plastics produces dangerous dioxins. The effects on wildlife are also described as catastrophic.

Plastic
1. PLASTIC ? ? ?
"It's a job that's never started that takes the longest to finish.“
J.R.R. Tolkien
2. The chasing arrows
THE NUMBER TELLS THE CHEMICAL MAKE UP OF THE PLASTIC.....
1) Polyethylene terephalate (PET)
2) High density polyethylene (HDPE)
3) Polyvinyl chloride (PVC)
4) Low density polyethylene LDPE
5) Polypropylene (PP)
6) Polystyrene (PS) or Expandable polystyrene (EPS)
7) Other, including nylon and acrylic
All plastics migrate toxins into whatever they contact at all time. It
does not matter if it is water or oil based, hot or cold, solid or
liquid
3. PET
Used in
Soft drinks, Mineral Water, Edible Oil , Jars
What Migrates
Acetaldehyde
Effects
Developmental Toxin
Human carcinogen
4. POLYSTYRENE
Used In :
Disposable foamy plastic cups, plastic plates
What migrates out :
Styrene
Effects :
Hormone disrupting toxin
5. LDPE&HDPE
Used in
Buckets, Bowls, Cup, plates, 5 litre cooking oil
What migrates out & Effects
Lead – neurotoxin – intelligence of children
Cadmium – nephrotoxin – kiidneys severe harm
6. POLYCARBONATE
Used in :
Baby feeding bottles, small and large bottles
What migates :
Biosphenol A – A Endocrine Disruptor
Effects :
Inhibits endocrine system producing inappropriate quantity
of hormones, can effect physical development, sex & brain
development, behavior, temperature regulation and even
retard growth
7. PVC
Uses :
water bottles, cooking oil bottles, mouth wash bottles,
teethers for babies, nipples and toys such as dolls, etc
What Migrates :
Lead, Cadmium, Barium, Zinc, Mercury, Phthalates and
also Vinyl Chloride monomers
Effects :
liver and kidney dysfunction, reproductive abnormalities,
chronic bronchitis, ulcers, skin diseases, vision failure,
cancer and even genetic changes.
8. Alternatives???
RECYCING – No Answer
BIODEGRADEABLE PLASTIC – Not Viable
BURNING – Dangerous.
The incineration of one kilogram of PVC produces up to 50
micrograms of dioxin, enough to initiate cancer in 50,000
laboratory animals. They have been known to lead to cancer,
endocrine disruption, and reproductive disorders.
Increasingly incinerators are being linked to birth of
defective babies.
10. OUR ATTITUDE
No drop of rainwater ever believes that it is responsible for the floods
11. 2,66,000 less poly bags used in a single day
97,090,000 poly bags in a year
