4. Background
• Tramstop Wall (Pysäkkiseinä.fi) was piloted
during 2,5 months during the fall 2012
• New media space was built for
conversation between the passengers
• Access the wall by typing the url or with an
NFC phone from a sticker placed in the 213
canopied tramstops in Helsinki
• Another NFC sticker in the tramstops also
offered ease to buy a SMS ticket
Partners: Sanoma, Helsinki Region Travel (HSL) and Nokia
5. – 10 000 unique visitors
in the
www.pysäkkiseinä.fi –
page
– Mostly young adults
– 55% female, 45%
male
6. Results
of
the
pilot
• Messages
– The service received around 30 messages/day
– Only 10% of the messages were moderated/not published
– 17% of the messages was feedback to HSL (trams late/
customer service quality/accidents…)
• NFC phone usage
– 6% accessed the service though the NFC sticker in the
tramstops
– During 12.9. – 18.11. 387 SMS mobile tickets were
ordered
– 203 unique phone numbers bought SMS tickets
7. Results
of
the
pilot
• Moderation seemed to be the
bottleneck
• Interaction with others was
longed after in the messages
(like, respond)
• NFC was perceived as an easy
way to access the service or buy
a ticket (comments on the wall)
>> The service hasn’t been
developed further after the pilot
