The Millau Viaduct is a cable-stayed bridge located in southern France that spans the valley of the River Tarn near Millau. It was built to reduce traffic congestion and travel time between France and Spain on the major route from Paris to Spain. The viaduct cost 390 million Euros to build and required over 127,000 cubic meters of concrete and 24,000 metric tons of steel. It features an innovative hydraulic system to lift temporary piers and has received international awards for its engineering and design.
