2. Arrival
According to legend, the god Quetzalcoatl was
a white man with a beard who sailed to the
east, promising to return
In 1519, Hernan Cortez and his fleet arrive near
what is now Veracruz, and burn their ships.
At first welcoming, Moctezuma soon became
wary of the Spanish and mounted the offensive
Enemies of the Aztecs, the Tlexcala, welcomed
Cortez and his fleet and began to return
aggression against the Triple Alliance
3. Destruction
Moctezuma invited the Spaniards to a
precession in Tenochtitlan, and greeted
eachother with gifts
However, the Spaniards placed Moctezuma in
chains, and displayed him to his people
Either Cortez betrayed Moctezuma, or the
Mexica killed him, but either way the Aztecs
were fallen
