  2. 2. <ul><li>From the beginning, in the swamps of the lake texcoco, the Aztec city state of Tenochtitlan was an island, grew in size and strength. </li></ul>
  3. 3. <ul><li>The Aztecs used warfare and alliances to increase their power within the Valley of Mexico and obtain building materials, tools, and prisoners to use for human sacrifices. </li></ul>
  4. 4. <ul><li>In 1446 in Tenochtitlan has expansion of the Aztec empire, so Montezuma ordered a great embankment to be built to protect the city. Then, several years of bad harvests caused thousands of people to die of starvation. </li></ul>
  5. 5. <ul><li>Two years later, the Aztecs formed an alliance with two neighboring cities, Texcoco and Tlacopan. This &quot;Triple Alliance&quot; continued to conquer other lands, and by the 16th century they controlled an empire of four million people. </li></ul>
  6. 6. <ul><li>When the Spanish come from Mexico, have much population in tenochtitlanta. Tenochtitla dazzled the conquistadors. It was more beautiful than anything they had ever seen on earth. </li></ul>
  7. 7. <ul><li>Montezuma is a emperor of the Aztecs, lived a life of pure luxury in a palace with beautifully decorated rooms. At meals , no ordinary people were allowed to look at him. </li></ul>
