1. Moldovan students spend 5-7 hours in school each day and 3-5 hours on homework, leaving little time for extracurricular activities. The goal of this project is to shorten breaks between classes to give students more free time.
2. A survey will assess how students currently spend break times and after school. Research will examine other schools' schedules. Negotiations with administrators will propose shortening breaks.
3. If approved, the new schedule will be implemented. A final evaluation will determine if students now have more time for extracurricular activities. All results will be featured in a summary video.
1. 1. Name of the project: Shorter School Breaks
2. Problem: Moldovan students spend daily 5-7 hours in the school. Besides, the
homework preparation for Moldovan kids takes from 3 to 5 hours, since the
curriculum is very difficult and theoretically-oriented, so that students have to
learn compulsorily many unuseful things. Moreover, the syllabus does not include
extracurricular activities, this way kids have to attend private clubs in the city. For
this reason, many students claim that they are too busy, and have not enough time
for some extracurricular activities, but school assignments preparation. One of the
reasons is the school schedule, which is quite extended (7 classes lasting from 8.30
a.m. till 3 p.m.), and which includes only compulsory subjects, and no clubs.
3. Goal: The aim of our project is to shorten the time spent in school, by
shortening the breaks; this way, all students will have gain more time for extracurricular activities.
4. Beneficiaries: all the students from Lyceum “Mihai Eminescu”, Chisinau,
