2. Introduction of Television.
• Television means an electric communication medium that allows the transmission of real
time visual images, and also sound.
• Television is a telecommunication medium for transmitting and receiving moving images
that can be monochrome means black and white or colored, with or without
accompanying sound. “Television” may also refer specifically to a television set, television
programming, or television transmission.
• Television is one of the major medium of mass-media. There are a large number of people
who cannot read or write for them television is useful tool. It gives us the knowledge
about all around the world. There are so many main or sub genre of television.
• Experiments in Television broadcasting were initiated
during the 1920s in the United States and Europe.

3. Meaning of Genre.
• "Genre is the term for any category of literature or other forms of art or culture for
example music and in general,any type of discourse, whether written or spoken, audible
or visual, based on some set of stylistic criteria.“
• Television grownup as a great medium for entertainment, knowledge, education, etc. in
our language Television means “Doordarshan and now known as TV.
• As we all know in this 21st century the role of technology plays very vital role in every
field like, education, business, agriculture, etc. Television is one of the great technological
tools for the mass communication.

"pure" news. That means news which were covered from
every news program like elections or a death of an
important person for example like A.P.J.Abdul Kalam.
• Debates, current issues, reality of Society, Voice against
violence, help to poor people, shows of education, health
advice, entertainment, election, information about
government policy, issues etc broadcasting in T.V. News
channels agenda.
• News Media has first investigated, what matter happened.
It is true or not. Than News channel broadcasting and

8. TV Documentaries or Features/ Factual
Television
• Documentaries/factual television is a genre of
nonfiction television programming that documents
actual events and people. These types of programs
are also described as documentary, observational
documentary, fly on the wall, docudrama and reality
television.
• It is sometimes known as documentary theatre. This
is related to real life, historical events, Serious
issues, fact in society, Wild life issues, Historical
death etc. In the core elements of its story a
docudrama strives to adhere to known historical
facts, while allowing a greater or lesser degree of
dramatic license in peripheral details and where
there are gaps in the historical record.

9. • It is all about Dialogue may include the actual words of real life persons, as
recorded in historical documents. Docudrama producers sometimes choose
to film their reconstructed events in the actual locations in which the
historical events occurred. E.g. (Subhashchandra Bose’s Death Revile,
Terrorist Attack on Taj Hotel, Film Neerja - Death of Air Hostess, Rape to
Nirbhaya as India Daughter ).

10. Talk Shows
• A talk show or chat show is a television programming or
radio programming genre in which one person, group of
people discusses various topics put forth by a talk show host.
• Usually, guests consist of a group of people who are learned
and who have great experience in relation to whatever issue
is being discussed on the show for that episode.
• Other times, a single guest discusses their work or area of
expertise with a host or co hosts. It is show of tonight only.
• Many a time, call in show takes live phone calls from callers
listening at home. Sometimes, guests are already seated but
are often introduced and enter from backstage.

11. Children’s Programmes
• Children's programmes are designed & marked to children normally broadcast
programming scheduled for broadcast during the morning and afternoon when
children are awake.
• They can sometimes run during evening, allowing younger children to watch them
are kindergarten or school. The purpose of the shows is mainly to entertainment &
sometimes education.
• This program talk about to end show they given moral messages and some things
dream world, magical element, fantasy, fairy tales, Animal story, Science fiction,
video games etc.
• Children ‘s television series can target a wide Variety of key demographics. This

13. Talent Hunt’ Shows
• The main concept of this show as to be people, youngster,
children have hidden talent came out to this kind of show. It is
big stage as they Participated and performs them.
• This is reality/ talent show and it is a hunt for music, dance,
Knowledge etc. It is a platform where contestants display their
talent to on looking nation and world wide.
• This reality show as nowadays scripted and children,
youngster, actor, judges dialogues are scripted and their have
not reality but scripted performance.

14. Reality TV
• The main purpose of this T.V. Show in talk about to
real society. A genre of television programming that
presents purportedly unscripted dramatic or
humorous situations, documents actual events and
usually features ordinary people instead of
professional actors.
• Programming that is unscripted and follows actual
‘real life’ events as they unfold, usually involving
members of the public or groups of celebrities.
• The television genre where situations are created by
the show’s producers, but the show itself is
unscripted. Cameras capture the participants’
natural reactions and responses to the situations
created, which are then edited as a programme or
series.

17. Soap Operas
• It is a serial drama on television. It is related to story lines about lives of characters.
The stories usually focus on emotional relationships to the point of melodrama.
• The word ‘Soap’ refers to the soap & detergent commercial originally broadcast
during the shows, which were aimed at women who are cleaning their house at
time listening and viewing and ‘Opera’ refers to the melodramatic character of the
shows. (Emotions, crying Scenes, Romance, Melodrama, Face Expression, fight)
• Indian soap opera are written, produced, filmed in India and character are played
episodes broadcasting on T.V. E.g. – ‘Hum Log’ and ‘Balika Vadhu’

18. Tele novella
• Tele novella means it is a type of limited run serial drama and it is originally
from Latin America and Popular on Southeast Asian, Latin American, East Asian,
South Asian, Portuguese and Spanish television networks.
• The word combines ‘Tele’ short for television and ‘novella’, a Spanish and
Portuguese word for novel. Tele novella comes on television channels and these
Tele novellas are based on the some of the novel and their incident.
