 Donation-based civic crowdfunding: roughly estimated $1.2 billion a year
worldwide per year;
 Civic crowdfunding is small-scale but relatively successful, and it has big
ambitions. Currently the average civic crowdfunding project is small in scale:
$6,357 is the median amount raised;
 Civic crowdfunding is concentrated in cities (especially those where
platforms are based);
 Civic crowdfunding has the same highly unequal distributional tendencies
as other crowd markets.

1. Cause: recovery from a natural disaster (but it affected all the
territory - museum is not a priority)
2. Impact: ultra local (despite Siena has got one of the highest
rate of volunteers contributing for causes in Italy)
3. Emotional: no one talked about it too much
