2. The GPS (Global Positioning System) is the technology that
allows us to set global position of an object, a person, a vehicle or
a ship with almost pinpoint accuracy, at any time and from
anywhere. To achieve this, receiver communicates with a
constellation of 24 satellites approximately 20,200 km and 5
stations spread over the entire land surface of the receiving
position data and time. Thus the screen draws a map with the
exact location of the object indicating streets, roads, rivers and
landforms terrain in full color.
3. The GPS system was invented by Ivan Getting who,
after years working for the Air Force and its navigation
and guidance systems for missiles, devised the creation
of a network of satellites that allow tracking of an
object almost millimeter.
4. The Global Positioning System, known as "GPS", was
officially opened in 1995.
This system born within the Department of Defense of
the U.S. It was originally conceived as a military strategy,
but over time developed a huge number of civilian
applications. Thanks to GPS, the lost world stopped.
