A. Imperialism. It was because of the nations of Europe having large colonial territories that
many of the tensions came to fruition. Every nation was trying to get a foot up on resources and
power. This led to a lot of tension.
B Nationalism is when the people of a state feel pride of being from there. They feel that their
culture and identity are superior to their neighbors.

A. Triple Alliance and the Triple Entente
B. Triple Alliance- Germany, Italy(later switched sides), and Austria-Hungary. Triple Entente-
Great Britain, Russia, France.

A. It was the German plan to run their army over the Netherlands and Belgium on the way to
France. This was supposed to allow the Germans to bypass most of the French fortifications. I
feel that is was not effective because the attack on the lowland countries ruined the worldâs view
of Germany. The French also protected Paris from German control.
