The document summarizes feedback received from a survey about music video, poster, and digipak products. Most respondents were female students aged 16-19, which aligned with the target demographic. The majority felt the video and song linked well, though some thought emotions could have been conveyed more effectively. Many respondents thought the video editing and shots were good but could have included a wider range. Overall impressions of the video were positive. The poster and digipak designs received mixed feedback and were revised to include more color and visual motifs to appeal to those wanting more depth or complexity.
1. What I have learned
from audience
feedback
Having conducted a survey, as well as asking
many about their views of my products I have
created this PowerPoint to show the feedback I
got and what I have learned from it.
2. Most of the people I asked were female students, aged
between 16-19 years old, which was perfect due to my
demographic being this market. I feel they are likely to
discuss the products with friends and share on social
networks, such as Facebook and Twitter.
3. The majority of people felt the video, including its
narrative, were 100% Appropriate to the song and its
style. This is very positive as it shows that the two
linked well. However, a large amount felt it was kind of
appropriate, suggesting that it could be more. Perhaps
being more effective with emotions early on could
relate further for the audience to the song and video
together.
4. Many felt the editing and shots were good. This is
positive as it shows many felt that the shots were
effective in showing the story, while the editing showed
good continuity. I feel a reason they weren’t ‘very good’
could be due to there not being as vasta range as there
could be.
5. My survey showed that the majority felt my video
overall was good, with two saying it was very good. I
feel this is very positive. Showing that it appealed to my
target market as intended. The ending many felt was
strong, although some felt it could have been built up
more throughout. The comments I got from viewers
was mainly positive, with many saying it moved them
emotionally.
6. The debate over my poster and digipak was a difficult one, I originally came
up with the simple concept of having the black background, white balloon;
linking to the video, and the artist and song name. I felt this would be
symbolic for the viewers, with them being able to relate the image to the
video. However, many felt it was too simple, needing something more. After
some deliberation, and taking the feedback on, I decided I was to add more
colour, using the orange paw to stand out and create a visual motif. The baby
scans I also used, again relating to the video, and I felt this would add depth
to the simple design; therefore appealing to those who felt it needed more
initially. The survey shows that many felt the designs were appropriate to the
artist and song’s style and genre, however it still shows that some felt it could
have been more.
It also shows the divide in opinion is still there, although in some ways
that is positive, as it shows a range of views, which art can do.
How they would rate the
digipak and poster
7. Overall the feedback to my digipak, poster and music video was positive.
My music video I feel appealed to its intended market, although some
comments have noted it as being cliché in parts, and over-acted by myself
when performing to camera; this I agreed with and take as note for the
future, but the overall emotional impact was effective I feel. The poster and
digipak caused debate, although that is somewhat important to leave the
viewers thinking. Also an interesting link some noted was that the balloon
looked similar to a sperm, which coincidentally relates to the song title.
Overall I feel the feedback showed that the video had the biggest effect,
with its emotional content, while the majority liked the links between all
three products as a whole.
