3. Academic Advising
• Advises most Spalding students, which means:
– Helping build students’ schedules each session
– Helping students plan their paths to graduating
– Helping students succeed in their academics (SPARK,
CARE, SOS, Academic Coaching, and more)
• Open weekdays and some
Saturdays
• Walk-ins are welcomed and
appointments are available as well

4. Academic Coaching
• Academic Coaches believe that
“being able to identify and
improve your skill, will, and self-
regulation is the key to
academic success!”
• Coaches can help Spalding
students with study skills,
preparation for quizzes and
exams, reading comprehension,
and strategic learning skills

5. Guided Psychology Study (GPS)
• Study for psychology
classes with peers
• Guided by psychology
doctoral students
6. Math Tutoring
• The Math Lab offer support for
basic math, intermediate and
college algebra, and statistics.
• Walk-ins are welcomed.
• The Math Lab is located in the
library, room 326 (3rd floor).

7. The Writing Center
• We offer one-on-one writing support for Spalding
students.
• Consultants provide an authentic audience, and
can collaborate at any stage in the writing
process.
• We can help students interpret readings and
assignments; organize and effectively support
ideas; brainstorm, pre-write and plan revisions;
and refine language, grammar and style
• We are consultants, not editors.
• Come prepared with notes, assignment
information, relevant documents, sources, etc.
early in the writing process.
• Handouts, guides, resources are available on our
webpage. Referrals from faculty and email
consultations are available as well.
• Appointments are strongly encouraged but walk-
ins are also welcomed.

8. Spalding Library
• The Spalding Library offers research
assistance, and library holdings include over
100,000 book titles, 50 journal subscriptions, and 60
library databases (many of which offer full-text
documents).
• The library also offers a variety of handouts and
tutorials, accessible on-site and at
www.spalding.edu/library
• The library is located at 853 Library Lane (between 3rd
and 4th streets), can be reached by phone at 502-585-
7130, and is open 7 days a week (with some exceptions
for holidays).
9. Spalding University Career and
Civic Engagement SuccesS Center
• Students can learn about themselves and
connect that knowledge with career choices
and civic opportunities
• Career, personality and interest assessments.
Resources – books and internet-
based, comfortable “coffee shop” type
environment
• Selecting a major, career, building resumes and
cover letters
• Presentations on careers, volunteerism, job
search, networking
• Partitioned to provide discipline-specific
support

10. College Central
College Central is Student Development & Campus Life Office's online job board
system. This service helps job seekers find full- or part-time employment, both
locally and nationwide.
• With the online job board, you can search for part-time or full-time positions
that local employers have posted exclusively to Spalding University.
• You can also search College Central Network™s national job board, which
currently has over 60,000 entry-level job postings available nationwide. New jobs
are added daily, including entry-level jobs from nearly 150 newspapers. College
Central also features over 1,000 career articles written by industry professionals
and over 100 career videos to help guide you in your career exploration.

11. Spalding Counseling Center
(SCC)
• Director = Allison From, PsyD. – licensed
psychologist.
• Staff = completing professional training,
master’s or doctoral level.
• Traditional counseling and psychotherapy,
marital, family, and group
counseling/therapy for current Spalding
students.
• Additional support groups throughout the
year and psychological assessment for
learning disabilities, attention-deficit
disorders, personality characteristics

• Spalding University recognizes that college can
be stressful and difficult, and that students
have lives that sometimes create difficulties in
their progression towards graduation.
• There are many free services offered by the
University to help students with the difficulties
they may encounter.
• Taking advantage of these support services can
make students’ lives easier by helping them
read, study, research, and write more
effectively; these services can also help make
college a less-stressful, more rewarding
experience for students.
