In what ways does your media product
use, develop or challenge forms and
 conventions of real media products?

Film Poster
These two film posters ‘St Trinians’ and ‘Hamlet 2’ had the most influence on my perspective while creating my own
film poster. At first glance of these two film posters you are able connote that it will be a comedy due to the
colour, fonts and layout these use.

The conventions that I followed are :

                      • The use of an animated background. I decided to
follow this convention as it would connate to all viewers
                      that the film is comedy.

•Comical and bright fonts for title.

•Names of main cast crew clearly visible.

                      •Use of tagline

•Credits in small and with the appropriate font which
                      allows it to look professional.

•The main image and title on the centre of the page.

The conventions that I challenged is:

•I decided to only use the image of the main actor. I
went against the convention of using an image with all
cast members as it would will revealed the narrative and
therefore not being able to surprise the viewers.
Film review
When considering my Magazine Article Ancillary Task, I looked at examples of the British Film Magazine:
Empire. It is an immensely popular monthly magazine with an average circulation of 194,016 and includes
all the latest news and reviews in the world of film.

Generally the articles are either behind the scenes
looks into the film with interviews of the stars and
production team involved or a review with a star
rating. I could consider doing a mixture of both for
                       my film review.

The tone for my article is descriptive and fast paced
to entice the reader to watch the film. This a key
convention for all film review articles.

                       I followed the generic layout pattern which include;
neat columns with simplistic white backgrounds,
bold headings to entice the reader and indicate what
the article is about. I also used of 'tag quotes'
throughout the article which point out significant
                       information.

I used a large images of one of the comical scenes in
the film as this is visually striking which will attract
the audience to read the feature. Also the image I
used was from on set. This is another convention for
film reviews as they use photo shoot images.
