6. Sandip Das Joins Reliance Jio Infocomm
(March, 2013)
• In Mar 2013 - CEO of Aircel and Malaysia's Maxis
Communications, Sandip Das, resigned from his position.
• Das is widely credited with successfully executing Maxis'
relisting in 2010, in what was Southeast Asia's biggest IPO
worth over $3 bn.
• He has also played a key role in Aircel's success in the 3G
and 4G spectrum auctions in 2010, when the company won
airwaves in 13 and 8 circles, respectively.
• He was the first employee of Hutchison Essar in India when
he joined the company in 1994.
• Reliance Jio is the only company in India to have pan-India
license to offer 4G services.

8. Mukesh and Anil Ambani Join Hands
(April, 2013)
• After 7 years, the two brothers, Mukesh Ambani and Anil
Ambani, joined hands for business purposes.
• Partnership with Reliance Communications post the reentry of
Mukesh Ambani into the telecom business, Reliance Jio has
partnered with Anil Ambani's RCom to share the latter's
• 1,20,000 km optic fiber network across the country.
• The two brothers had split their businesses in 2005 and the
telecom business had gone to Anil Ambani. The two brothers
scrapped a noncompet pact, three years ago, easing the
tension between them.

10. Airtel Acquires Qualcomm's License
(October, 2013)
• Bharti Airtel completely acquired Qualcomm founded 4G
company in India to offer wireless broadband services.
• Both the companies had got license to offer 4G services in
four circles each. After the acquisition, Airtel now owns
100% in WBSPL, which possesses broadband wireless, or
4G, spectrum in the four circles of Delhi, Mumbai, Kerala,
and Haryana.
• It already has similar airwaves in Punjab, Maharashtra,
Kolkata, and Karnataka circles and currently offers 4G
services in Bangalore, Pune, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Mohali,
and Panchkula.
