Billions of connected devices and things. Billions of people. 5G will provide connectivity for all of these things and people as well as businesses and industry, bringing benefit to society. Operating machinery in hazardous environments from a remote control will be enabled through near-zero latency communication links that enable real-time video. Billions of video-enabled devices will be able to share bandwidth-hungry content. These are just a few applications that illustrate what 5G will be designed for.

(An eBook reader can be a software application for use on a computer such as Microsoft's free Reader application, or a book-sized computer that is used solely as a reading device such as Nuvomedia's Rocket eBook.) Users can purchase an eBook on diskette or CD, but the most popular method of getting an eBook is to purchase a downloadable file of the eBook (or other reading material) from a Web site (such as Barnes and Noble) to be read from the user's computer or reading device. Commercial in confidence | 2015-06-15 | Page 13 Mass market personalized TV • In the Networked Society there will be 15bn video- enabled devices connected to broadband IP, transforming the consumption experience of TV. • By 2020 we predict that consumers in advanced markets will have shifted their patterns to a 50:50 split of on-demand content vs linear/live TV. As we evolve to an all-IP world it will open up for an un-plugged wireless media world. • 5G will change the media distribution landscape by providing efficient and flexible media delivery and TV broadcasting opportunities. • Together with eco-system players in the consumer device industry a new media delivery paradigm shift will be established for mass-market personalized TV services leveraging 5G © Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson 2015 | Ericsson June 2015
