This document discusses bibliometric analyses and normalization methods for comparing the impact and citation counts of academic publications. It provides examples of citation counts for publications in different subject fields and years to illustrate baseline values and relative impact indices (RI). The document also notes that bibliometric data was collected from the Wageningen UR library catalog and Web of Science and compared to examine coverage of publications. Overall it examines methods for performing normalized comparisons of citation metrics for publications from different academic disciplines and years.
