    1. G5 ESU.Vision30 Contents § Waste recycling § Renewable energy § Energy efficiency § Global indicators
    2. Future vision: Future vision: 80% level of waste recycling 100 90 15% growth 80 per 70 year 60 50 40 30 20 10 0 06 08 10 12 14 16 18 20 22 24 26 28 30 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20
    3. Mechanisms: Mechanisms: Legislation: - Government strategy, build more waste recycling factories - Allow to landfill only 20% of the waste Economic: - High taxes on landfill - Decreased taxes for companies which don’t produce waste Education: - Teach the importance of waste recycling in schools - Prepare specialists in this area Information: -Teach people to separate different kinds of waste
    4. Future vision: Future vision: Using of Renewable source of energy 100 Atomic 90 17% to 8,5% 80 Coal 70 19% to 24% 60 Oil 50 19% to 9,5% 40 30 Gas 20 41% to 19% 10 0 RENEWABLE 07 09 11 13 15 17 19 21 23 25 27 29 ar 4% to 50% Ye 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20
    5. Mechanisms: Mechanisms: Legislation: - Create a free market for energy, so that people can choose what kind of energy (renewable/non-renewable) and from who they buy it Economic: - Decreased taxes for companies which use renewable energy - Introduce a new tax that will penalize companies for low power efficiency - Create a government investment fund which will support companies which want to build power stations of renewable energy or improve their processes to increase power efficiency etc. Education: - Emphasis on sustainable development in training of engineers - Teaching sustainable development in schools Information: - Create a public opinion about the importance of sustainable development in energy sector.
    6. Future vision: Future vision: Efficient use of energy Companies: - Improved processes to make production more sustainable - Decreased waste production - Increased power efficiency - Cooling waters are used for domestic heating Citizens/domestic heating - Using heat pumps - Increased heat efficiency - Decreased consumption of energy, water, etc.
    7. Mechanisms: Mechanisms: Legislation & Economic: - Government supports new standards of production - Market prices for energy for all companies - Building a network of heat pumps - Decreased temperature in domestic heating - Introduce new taxes for low power efficiency of companies - Encourage sustainable production Education & Information: - Training of sustainable development specialists - Teach and motivate people to decrease consumption of energy, water, etc by using energy-saving
    8. Indicators: Indicators: - Environmental sustainability index - Ecological footprint - Use of energy per dollar in GDP - Quantity of harmful emissions per ton of production - Percentage of waste recycling - Ratio of using renewable and non- renewable source of energy - GPI (Genuine Progress Indicator)
    9. Indicators: Indicators: Environmental sustainability index Indicator Data MORTALITY Child Mortality (deaths/1000 population 1-4) INDOOR Indoor Air Pollution (%) WATSUP Drinking Water (%) ACSAT Adequate Sanitation (%) PM10 Urban Particulates (μg/m3) OZONE Regional Ozone (ppb) NLOAD Nitrogen Loading (mg/L) OVRSUB Water Consumption (%) PWI Wilderness Protection (%) PACOV Ecoregion Protection (scale 0-1, 1=10% each biome protected) HARVEST Timber Harvest Rate (%) AGSUB Agricultural Subsidies (%) OVRFSH Overfishing (scale 1-7) ENEFF Energy Efficiency (Terajoules / million GDP PPP) RENPC Renewable Energy (%) CO2GDP CO2 per GDP (Tonnes / GDP PPP)
