how do I learn?
What is learning?


The acquisition of knowledge or skills
through experience, practice, or study, or
by being taught.
TYPES OF LEARNING
1.Visual
2.Auditory
3.Kinesthetic
VISUAL


Visual learning is a teaching and learning style in which ideas,
concepts, data and other information are associated with
images and techniques.




Uses visual objects such as graphs, charts, pictures, and seeing
information.
Can read body language well and has a good
perception of aesthetics.



Able to memorize and recall various information.



Tends to remember things that are written down.






Learns better in lectures by watching them.
AUDITORY


Auditory learning is a learning style in which a
person learns through listening.




Retains information through hearing and speaking.
Often prefers to be told how to do things and then
summarizes the main points out
loud to help with memorization.
Notices different aspects of speaking.
Often has talents in music and may concentrate
better with soft music playing in the background





Kinesthetic


Kinesthetic learning (also known as tactile learning) is a
learning style in which learning takes. Place by the student
carrying out a physical activity.



Likes to use the hands-on approach to learn new material.

• Is generally good in math and science.
• Would rather demonstrate how to do
something rather than verbally explain it.
• Usually prefers group work more than
Others.
The Brain and Learning
 When

the Brain is stimulated, memory
occurs. Stimulation of the Brain causes
changes in the nerve cell pathways.
Hippocampus is thought to be important in
changing short term memories.
Memory

The

store of things learned and retained from an
organism's activity or experience as indicated by
modification of structure or behavior or by recall and
recognition
Short-term memory
 Short-term

memory (or "primary" or
"active memory") is the capacity for holding a
small amount of information in mind in an
active, readily available state for a short
period of time.
Long term memory
 memory

that involves the storage and recall
of information over a long period of time (as
days, weeks, or years)
Tips to improve learning


Find a quiet place to study where you won't be bothered. This
is very important and should be given great care in doing.



Get everything you need before you sit down to study.
Pencils, pens, notebooks, college ruled paper, your laptop,
textbooks, etc.



Develop a calm attitude. Be calm and patient with yourself.
Nobody learns anything straight away.
Take notes in any classes that you have
Start with the homework that is hardest to you.


Facts!


The person only remembers about 10% of what he read
(textbooks, papers).

The person only retain about 20% of what he hear
(lectures, talks).




The person only remember about 50% of what he hear and see
together (a presentation, exhibition).
