from the French word, “ Informatique” and
“Informatika” in Russian encompasses the
notation of information handling.

Information technology together is a science
of information handling by using computers
to support the communication of knowledge
in technical, economic and social fields.
IT is “the
study, design, development, implementation,
support or management of InfoTech”
3. It is a generic term used for a group of technologies.
Major six technologies are:
Processor, memory and input/output channels.
Micro, mini and large computers.
Mass storage technologies.
Data communication, networking and distributed
processing.
Data entry, display respond
Software.
Technologies can be grouped in 3 major areas:
A. Computer technology
B. Communication technology
C. Reprographic, micrographic and printing
technologies
4. It
include mini computers, micro
computers, personal computers,
portable computers, super
computers, robots, microchip
technology, artificial intelligence,
software developments , C-ROM
technology, machine – readable
databases etc.
