- Function Change over time Aim: To find out how and why settlements change their function over time. Case Study – Shincliffe, County Durham.
- Shincliffe Middle Ages Farming settlement.
- Start of the 1800’s Coal Mine Opened
- 1950’s Shincliffe Coal Mine closed. Jobs lost, people move out of the area.
- 2006 Shincliffe Shincliffe has now become a commuter or dormitory settlement where people live and commute to work in neighbouring large towns and cities like Durham and Newcastle
