About 40,000 years ago, The Bering Sea was covered my
a large ice sheet. Animals from Siberia were crossing
this land bridge. The Indians of Siberia hunted these
animals and crossed over the bridge to get their game.
They ended up where they live today. Except we will be
talking about the natives that now live in

3. Physical Features of the Southwest
The Southwest region contains many land features, such
as mesas, canyons, deserts, and mountains, and many
more. You wouldn’t find very many water sources in
the southwest.
4. Clothing
What did the Native Americans wear in this region?
Native Americans of the southwest wore light clothing.
Men wore shirts or kilts. Women wore colorful cotton
dresses. They used a lot of turquoise in their jewelry.
They use rock and/or bone to make necklaces
5. CLIMATE
Receives very little rain fall
Days are hot and nights are cold
There are long hot summers and
short, mild winters
It is dry
Less than 10 inches of rain fall a

6. FOOD
They farmed corn, squash ,beans , peppers and wheat.
They would hunt deer, squirrels, rattle snake and
rabbit. They would dig a pit then they put a fire in it
and put rocks on top to cook yucca. They would eat
yucca and berries.

make colors for body paint. They
farmed crops like corn, beans, and
squash. They used cotton for sewing
and clothing. They also used mud and
rock for houses. Scorpians, snakes,
rabbits, deer, and squirrels provided
food in this region.

out of wood. Hogans have 6 sides
made of logs. The roof is made of
adobe. They also had pueblos. They
were made of brick and mud. a Tipi
is a cone shaped houses. These are
the houses of the south west
