2. LIGHTING
Most of our film uses natural light as natural lighting allows for the
best shots and no harsh shadows also when we use natural
lighting there won’t be any jarring shots. When we do use
lighting we will place the lighting from where the source of
natural lighting is coming from.
3. COLOUR
We will be using very pale colours we are using these colours for
showing the child's emotions as they become very upset with
their living conditions. However, when the child is happy then
the colours become bolder and more brighter showing their
happiness shining through. We decided to do for the beginning
shots are based around a grey or white background. But the
subject is based around bright lively colours showing the little
parts of brightness off and becoming more eye-catching.
4. SETTINGS
Foster home (Child actors house)- we used this house because after
comparisons to real foster homes we found that it matched the
aesthetic of a real foster home.
Direct work sessions (Glenaire primary school)- We used this one because
it worked best as it was in a formal looking area. It worked best for the
scene as the aesthetic of the room made it evoke the right emotions as
the characters were made to be sad so the room is very barren.
Emphasising how alone Reece feels.
Roberts park- this provides the special place for the young child as this
was a connection between them and the absent parent.
School- We are just using a normal school as it will look atheistically
pleasing and made the most sense
5. PROPS
The props that we need for our film and simple little things that help the
scene go along. We will need the card that she wants to give to her
biological father but also another one that she will give to her foster
dad. We will also need hot chocolate or any other beverages that the
actors drink. In addition, to this we will need any food that the actors
will eat. We will also need some paper and pen and pencils for the main
actor to draw on. Lastly, we will need books for the school scenes to
make it look more realistic.
6. COSTUME AND HAIR
For our main character Sam we decided for the scenes where she is show either
in school or just leaving/left school we would just put her in a school uniform
to show the formality of the school. She will always wear a hat no matter
what costume she will be wearing. This is due to the fact that later on in the
film we revile that her biological father wears the same hat showing the
emotional state she has to her father. So when she is later shown without the
hat on it shows that she has let go of her connection with her father. For her
everyday clothes we would just keep the look of a regular middle class
family look and her hair would just be a normal style of being down and not
put in any style. For the foster dad we decided to put the foster dad in a
smart causal attire to show that he is in a middle class family. For the
biological father we decided to make him wear the same hat as Sam but he
doesn’t’ look well off. We will make him wear clothes that are possibly a bit
dirty and a bit scruffy looking. The social worker will simply be in formal
attire being a look that a normal social worker would wear. For the bullies
they will be wearing their school outfits in school but unlike Sam they will
make theirs look scruffy by un-tucking parts of their shirts etc. When they
are not in their school clothes unlike Sam who will wear a different style of
clothes to them.
