4. Challenges in Online Trainings
• Learner motivation and engagement issues
• Trainer and Learner Disconnect
• Assessment of the Learner’s Knowledge
5. INTERACTIVITY - The One-Stop-Solution
Interactivity is the process of adding certain
elements to the training content which can add
interest, inquisitiveness, challenge and engagement
to learning.
6. How Interactivity helps?
• Aids in bridging the presenter learner gap
• Creates an experiential learning process which brings
in more effectiveness to the overall learning scenario
• Keeps the learners engaged and motivated
• Helps learners retain knowledge easily
8. Click here to know more about Character based Learning
9. When and Where to use Character Dialogs
• For opening a training session
• For closing a session
• Throughout the session
• While switching between topics
10. Interactive eBooks
• Creates an experiential learning environment
• Engages the learners because of its similarity to the
traditional classroom teaching model
• Helps learners to reflect on their knowledge
12. Role based Simulations
• Promotes the concept of “learning by doing”
• Practical Learning+ Theoretical Learning
• Learners become aware of and sensitive to the
complexities in each problem
13. When and Where to use Role Based Simulations
• For corporate
trainings
• For safety and
healthcare trainings
14. Explorative Learning
• Uses the concept of Active Exploration
• Enables a learner to learn according to his / her
learning style
• The inquisitiveness to explore keeps the learners’
interest levels high
16. Game Based Learning
“You can learn more about a man
in an hour of play than in a
Year of conversation”
- Plato
17. Game-based Learning
• Keeps the learners engaged from
start to finish
• Motivates learners because of the
immediate rewards associated with
learning games like feedback, victory
points.
• Builds a team spirit in learners
Learner Motivation issues: Since most of the trainings online are long and monotonous without any interesting elements, learners tend to get bored and eventually de-motivated. Thus transforming these inactive and boring training sessions need to be turned into high engagement sessions Trainer and Learner Disconnect - In a classroom training program there is great scope for trainer-learner interactions. With online training, the trainer has to make an effort to keep the communication going. If there is lack of communication, then are chances of the training program failing. It becomes important to identify of areas that act as a disconnecting point between the trainers and the learners and bridge them. Learner Assessments – It becomes difficult for learners to reflect on their own learning during online training sessions and is equally difficult for the trainers to keep a track of the same. So its important to find out ways by which this can be done easily.
While opening a training session – To introduce the elements, or to introduce participants even. Participants’ image can be arranged for before the session by the trainer and can be used in the way of their own characters while opening a session While closing a session – Characters can be used for intermittent summarization of topics while closing a session. Throughout the session – A trainer can also add his/her own image while delivering the whole session. This will add the missing human touch and will also overcome the usual challenge in distance online learning While switching between sessions – Trainers can add character dialogs while switching between two sessions to summarize the previous session and introducing the session. This can also be used to revisit a particular topic in the previous session.
Open Book assessments - Talk about the whole concept of open book assessments using Interactive eBook interactions and Assessment based interactions.
Portray this as a use case for Interactive eBooks. We need to talk about the concept of an open book assessment using interactive eBooks and Assessment Interactions simultaneously. Raptivity can bring about a definitive change in the overall experience for open book assessments. Using Raptivity’s eBooks, there is no text overload for the student and when it’s not text overload, referring back to the content becomes all the more easy and interesting. With Raptivity, it becomes easy for a learner to access two interactions simultaneously. One can open an interactive book on one browser while the assessment on the other. So, referring to the book is easy and the learner does not lose focus. With the help of an interactive eBook (flip the book) on one hand and an assessment tool (multi-page assessment) on the other, online training can be a successful experience. For instance, if you open Flip the Book interaction on one hand which talks about the Effects of Global Warming(or whatever image we’ll use) and open a multi page assessment for the learner on the other hand which has questions on the effects of global warming (or whatever image we’ll use, referring to the book and answering the questions become quite easy and fun for the learner.
Promotes the concept of “learning by doing” because a learner does everything himself. Practical + Theoretical Learning makes it the right combo to generate the learners’ interest and increase their motivation. Learners become aware of and sensitive to the complexities in each problem because they are given a situation and are prompted to act as a decision maker.
For Corporate Trainings: Can be used in scenarios where you want to train your learner for some real life scenarios. The learner will be given a scenario and will be prompted to take a decision. This will make him aware of and sensitive to the complexities in the scenario and will also give him feedback for each decision that he takes, thus effectively preparing him to handle such a scenario in real life easily. For safety and healthcare trainings – Since role based simulations give a practical experience feel to the user, they can be very effectively used for safety trainings like Fire Drills, etc. They can also be effectively used for healthcare trainings like training learners for first aid procedure, emergency heart attack aid trainings, etc.
Uses the concept of active exploration - Based on the fact that people learn more effectively by active exploration rather than reception and experimentation.
Use Case: Can be used effectively in scenarios where the learners are generally inquisitive and prefer learning at their own pace. For instance, for executive education programs or technical trainings. (Description for the two interactions can be sought from the whitepaper and can be talked about)
Game based learning always achieves the highest level of engagement from the learners – Because it touches the competitive streak in the human minds and brings in an element of fun to the whole learning process. When and Where to use: When your audience is young Use when you want to motivate your learners using some reward/victory points Can be used for training members of a same group/team. This will motivate them to perform better than each other. During the process, they will easily grasp the concepts even.
Marketing: Need a spin the wheel interaction here for the audience to play
We need similar sticky notes using the actual interaction here.
