"Possible Utilization of ILO-1 for Students" ILOA is very pleased to have cooperation and participation in organizing this Galaxy Forum Southeast Asia of Among Putro SKYWORLD Indonesia, which is a private space/aerospace, astronomy and related science/technology educational and recreational institution located on a national semi-governmental cultural conservation, education and recreational park called “Taman Mini Indonesia Indah” (Wonderful Indonesian Miniature Park) in the city of Jakarta. Galaxy Forum is the primary education and outreach initiative of the International Lunar Observatory Association, an architecture designed to advance 21st Century science, education, enterprise and development. Galaxy Forums are public events specifically geared towards high school teachers, educators, astronomers of all kinds, students and the general public. Presentations are provided by experts in the fields of astrophysics / galaxy research, space exploration and STEM education, as well as related aspects of culture and traditional knowledge. Interactive panel discussions allow for community participation and integration of local perspectives. Sixty-five Galaxy Forums with a total of almost 300 presentations have been held in 26 locations worldwide (since Galaxy Forum USA, July 4, 2008) including Hawaii, Silicon Valley, Canada, China, India, Southeast Asia, Japan, Europe, Africa, Chile, Brazil, Kansas and New York.

2. Motivation
• Many students consider sciences is a difficult
and boring subjects
• Astronomy and other space sciences can
attract students to love sciences
• Indonesia and ASEAN countries generally lag
behind developed countries in space sciences
• Governments pay more attention to projects
which can provide more good impact to more
people

3. ILO-1
• The main mission of
ILOA is ILO-1.
• It is a Moon lander with
optical and radio
telescope
• Expected to be launched

• For research and education

4. Activities using ILO-1
• We can design activities using ILO-1 telescope
for high school students such as competition,
research, image processing etc.
• Pointing ILO-1 telescope and taking pictures
can be controlled remotely from a laptop
computers with an ILO-1 Apps installed.
• In principle trained students can operates ILO-
1 from their own laptop!

5. University Students
• We can design research activities for
university students using ILO-1
• Students can form a research group and
submit research proposal to get telescope
time, and the winner can observe using ILO-1
for several hours
• The pictures can be used not only by the
research group but also other
students

6. High School Students
• We can design competition activities for high
school students using ILO-1
• Select few best students all over the Indonesia,
or ASEAN,
• For this purpose we can propose a new
competition or just select few best students
from the National Astronomy Olympiad (NAO).

• The plan is announced to the high schools all
over Indonesia / ASEAN countries, so that any
students can participate in the event.
• Several hours telescope time is awarded to
the NAO students
• The NAO students point the telescope and
take several pictures according to the plan.

to certain websites

8. High School Students
• Other students can download the pictures
trough their school computers and try to extract
some scientific information.
• They write reports and submit them to national
repository.
• The professional astronomers check the reports
and decide the best reports.
• A national award ceremony
is performed

• Observation of celestial objects through the
telescope in the Moon by students will be a
historic moment, because there are no
students have such experience in history.
• Thousands of students can get involved in the
observing event, so that we expect a great
impact to the society.
