1. Students from Jain Heritage A Cambridge School organized activities over a week to help hearing impaired children at the Ashray Akruti school.
2. They conducted games, art workshops, and assemblies on manners and nutrition to interact with and bring joy to the deaf children.
3. The Jain Heritage students felt fortunate after interacting with the disabled children and realized they could help however possible in the future.

The group consisted of hearing impaired – deaf and dumb children. We conducted games for them and they had lunch with us that day. After interacting with them and spending some time with them we the students of Jain Heritage A Cambridge School felt that we could do something that could bring a smile on their faces. We along with them wanted to break the wall of silence. We decided to lend a hand to bring joy in their lives.<br /> <br />Ideas generated.<br /> To visit Ashray Akruti Campus to see the children and spread joy to them.<br /> Firstly to interact with the children and planned to welcome them by tying friendship bands and to convey to them that we are there to Share and Care.<br /> Organize a session on how to play few indoor games like Chess and Carom with rules and regulations.<br /> We plan to conduct a competition and the winners to be given prizes.<br /> Under this programme we decided to conduct an assembly to create awareness among them regarding good manners, healthy eating habits, eating nutritious food, classroom rules etc.<br /> Planned a Power point presentation on the above topics.<br /> Organize a workshop on handwriting.<br /> Made art work, greeting cards, and bookmarks to sell and raise funds for the above said cause.<br /> Plan to conduct a painting competition wherein we decided to gift the winners and to distribute drawing kits to the participants.<br /> To discuss with the Principal of Ashray Akruti and try to find out whether any teaching aids are needed for their better learning and planned to provide the same.<br /> <br />IMPLEMENTAION WEEK<br />On 18.09.10 – Our core members visited the Ashray Akruti Campus and interacted with the children there and conducted a warm up session – memory game and balloon game.<br />Day one (27.09.10 )<br />Our children conducted a session on how to play few indoor games like Chess and Carom with rules and regulations. Charts were made for that purpose. Later competitions were conducted and prizes were distributed to the winners.<br /> Day two ( 28.09.10 )<br />Our children organized a special assembly for the students of Ashray Akruti to create awareness among them the importance of good manners, healthy eating habits, eating nutritious food, classroom rules etc. A Power point presentation was given on the above topics and charts and apples were given.<br />Day three ( 29.09.10 )<br />Our children conducted a workshop on handwriting and books, pencils and erasers were distributed to the participants.<br />Day four (30.09.10)<br />A painting competition was held where our children helped them to draw and colour and the winners were rewarded. Our children distributed drawing kits to the participants.<br />Day five (1.10.10)<br />Our core members handed the required teaching aids to the Principal of Ashray Akruti to enable them to learn better.<br />The Joy of giving week has changed the perspective of our children. They felt sorry for the disabled children and realized how fortunate they are and decided to do whatever they can in near future also.
