2. Five-Stage Narrative Structure
O We have chosen to follow the five stage narrative

structure theory. Instead of changing our initial synopsis
to fit an existing theory, this theory was perfect for our
storyline. This is because our ideas fit in well to the
theory which is:
Exposition – setting scene and introducing characters,
Development situation develops, more characters
involved,
Complication – something happens to complicate lives
of characters,
Climax – decisive moment reached; matters come to
head; suspense high,
Resolution – matters are resolved and satisfactory end
is reached.
3. Exposition

Within the opening of the scene Ava and Noah will be sitting underneath
a slide in the park. It will be reasonably dark and you will be able to
identify that they’re a couple straight away by their actions and
positioning.
The camera will then focus on the swings and the roundabout swinging
and spinning, you will then hear the girl being scared whilst the boy is
laughing and joking acting as if he can handle it.
The boy then jumps and drops the camera, you then hear screams and
shouts and the girl pleading for help. As well as the boy laying on the
floor dead and the girl being taken away. Before the girl gets taken away
she rings her dad, but before she can answer she drops her phone
whilst the clown is tying her up.
Her dad is a police man and is in his office, its not the clowns first time
being in trouble and the dad is screaming down the phone trying to find
out what is going on when all he can do is hear his daughter screaming.
You then see the clown pick the daughter up over his shoulder and walk
off.
4. Development
O Establishes where the clown is living and where he
is keeping the girls. And shows all the girls he has
already captured in this one location as well as 3
other clowns sitting in the living area.
O There is not only one clown, there is a multiple that
are killing the males of a couple and kidnapping the
girls.
O Establish more out about the father and how he is
the head of the police force. He knew straight away
it was the clown that captured her. It was a closed
case because of lack of evidence therefore the
father attempts to find the ‘1’ clown all by himself.
5. Complication
O The clowns fins out that the chief police
officer (Avas dad) is trying to find them. So
they stalk the house until they know that
the father has gone out and then 4 of the
clowns surround the house late at night
knowing that the wife is the only one in.
O Clowns raid the house quietly and stab
the wife, leaving her in the middle of the
living room with a knife in her and blood
all over the floor. FINGER PRINTS ON
THE KNIFE!

Once knife was sent to forensics, they identify the
location in which the clowns are but no specifics.
The father is on the hunt for the clowns, day and
night looking for the location.
He finally reaches destination, looks into all the
windows and through the smallest gap sees 3
clowns sitting on the sofa.
Presses button on police radar, for police to come
to scene.
All three clowns see the man peeking through the
curtains.
He steps back in shock and the fourth clown is
standing behind him with a knife.
7. Resolution
O The clown drags the father into the living
room where the other clowns are and they all
start hurting him, they’re about to stab him but
the police walk in.
O They shoot the clown with the knife and he
instantly dies. The other three clowns are
arrested.
O The film ends with the police opening the
doors to all the abducted women. And then
the daughter running up and hugging the chief
police officer.
