How can we replicate
the huge success in
China?
Seamless
Cultural
Integration
Strong Supply
Chain
India
Tapping into key
population
areas
Our Recommendation
1. Expand the Taco Bell brand
2. Utilize Pizza Hut’s existing and expanding supply
chain to support new Taco Bell restaurants
3. Focus on colleges and universities as gateways
to non-metropolitan areas
The Taco Bell Advantage
• Accommodate
Vegetarian Population –
30%
• Easily Customizable
• Preference for Spicy
Foods
• Blends Western and
Indian Cultures easily
Example Menu Item - Chili Paneer
Quesadilla
• Flavorful, spicy, and vegetarian – The Perfect
Combination
• Draws Indian youth to Western ideas while keeping up
with Indian traditions

Editor's Notes

  1. Good afternoon, and thank you for the opportunity to share our insights regarding the future of Yum! Brands. With over 1.4 million employees, and 36,000 restaurants in 117 countries, Yum! Brands is becoming the defining global company that feeds the world.
  2. We plan to build Taco Bells near the existing Pizza Huts to take advantage of the established supply chain. As such, we will add Taco Bell stores until our total number of Taco Bell stores will be the same as our current number of Pizza Hut stores. Because we believe KFC growth potentials are not as optimal as those of Taco Bell, we will not add additional stores and maintain the current number. Pizza Huts has been doing well in India and already has an established and steady presence. Because of this, we will continue to add stores, but at a slowing pace. In our Five-Year Plan, we will quickly expand the number of Taco Bells through franchising new stores, decreasing our percentage of company-owned stores to 5%. We will have the option to buy back profitable franchised stores as in China after our FYP.
  3. Total sales by company owned and franchised stores, with revenues broken down by the amount of royalty the Company receives.
  4. From our projected net sales, expenses, capital expenditure, and change in net working capital, we calculated the Free Cash Flows to Firm. Based on a WACC of 13.26% and a terminal growth rate of 3.00%, we determined the present value of our India Initiative to be $234 million. Because of our positive net present value, the India Initiative should be adopted.
