H1 2020 Quick Preview – Employee Central & Platform
• You can show the name of the user next to the user name in the Last modified by field in the History pages of effective-dated
HRIS elements. The following pages are affected: Job Information, Job Relationships, Compensation Information, Personal Information,
Dependents, Addresses. Showing the full name rather than the user ID in the History page makes it easier to identify employees who last
changed the record. Most people find it easier to identify users by their names instead of their IDs. (Universal)

• You can now manage benefit enrollments for new hires & re-hires using the Intelligent Services Center (ISC). When an
employee is hired, an administrator can configure Employee Central Global Benefits to trigger an intelligent service event. This event
automatically creates benefit enrollments, deduction records, or benefit exceptions for the employee based on certain criteria. The
administrator can configure the system to handle each benefit according to the company's enrollment rules. By automating the enrollment
process, the manual effort for administrators has lessened. (Admin Opt-In)
• Any benefit record created as of this release will have a single enrollment ID per benefit for an employee. Initially an employee enrolls
into a benefit for a given period; a unique enrollment ID (say EnrollmentID1) is created. After that, all changes to this enrollment record,
either due to edit or opt-out, will only create new time slices on the same enrollment record: EnrollmentID1. In scenarios of employee
enrollment into this benefit for a different period, another time slice is created within the enrollment record: EnrollmentID1. An
administrator can view all the changes done to the enrollment record for an employee by accessing the single enrollment ID. (Universal)

• Keep common information between the work order and job information of contingent workers up-to-date by configuring
your system to automatically synchronize data. When you add a new work order or modify an existing work order, you can create a
business rule to synchronize the required data in the corresponding job information object. We've introduced this feature to reduce the
manual effort involved in updating the job information of contingent workers as a result of changes to their work order. (Admin Opt-In)

H1 2020 Quick Preview – Employee Central & Platform
• The field assignmentIdExternal is always included in the response of EmpEmployment, whether or not it is configured in
Succession Data Model (SDM). The assignment ID can be used to identify a unique user in the system. You can use this field during
integration between SAP SuccessFactors and other systems. (Universal)
• You can now use the Mapped Domain Attribute Name field to configure country or region-specific address mapping using
Business Configuration UI based on each address field's definition. This field is a picklist and only relevant when SAP Cloud Platform Master
Data Integration is used in integration scenarios. For example, in Germany the address1 field can be mapped to a Street field. However, in
Australia the same field can correspond to the Street and House Number field in one masterdata service. The introduction of this field
helps in integrating multiple SAP applications that are specific to employee’s address. (Universal)
• You can now define a specific full transmission start date (FTSD) for each country/region you include in the replication of
employee master data from SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central to your on-premise SAP S/4HANA or SAP ERP system. You can use the
country/region-specific FTSD, for example, to move the FTSD for specific countries/regions after the initial replication. Moving the FTSD
can be required if you need to consider different timelines in payroll or other legal aspects, such as different financial years in different
countries/regions. You can also use the country/region-specific FTSD for a phased go-live. That is, you switch from using your on-premise
system to store employee master to using Employee Central country/region by country/region. (Admin Opt-In)
• There is a new version of the Employee Central Data Replication Monitor with improved performance and a new interface. With
Employee Central Data Replication Monitor 2.0, you can view the status of data replication from Employee Central to Employee Central
Payroll, S/4 HANA, and ERP. Where errors have occurred, you can access the function you need to correct them from the monitor. We
developed the new monitor to offer better performance and usability than the existing Employee Central Data Replication Monitor. (Admin

• When you define that the replication of employee master data from Employee Central to your on-premise SAP S/4HANA or SAP ERP
system is to consider only employments that are relevant for specific companies or countries/regions, Global Information is now also
filtered accordingly. When defining parameters for the replication of employee master data and organizational assignments from Employee
Central, you can select a Matching Employments Only parameter. Selecting this parameter now also filters Global Information
within Personal Information based on the country/region or countries/regions you specify. If you specify a company or
companies, the country/region of the company is used to determine the relevant information from Global Information. Only the
information that's relevant for the applicable country/region or countries/regions is considered. Comply with data protection and privacy
regulations by transferring only the required parts of Global Information to the SAP S/4HANA or SAP ERP system. (Admin Opt-In)

H1 2020 Quick Preview – Employee Central & Platform
• Integrating Public Sector Management (PSM), Funds, and Grants Management Solution with SAP SuccessFactors allows the usage of
public sector financing objects such as funds, grants, functional area, funds center, and the budget period within the SAP SuccessFactors
Employee Central. This integration helps you to allocate multiple cost assignments and distributions for each employee in
various business processes such as standard employment, global assignment, and concurrent employment. Additionally, the
integration also supports real-time derivation and validation of assignments from SAP S/4HANA Cloud and SAP S/4HANA On-Premise
financials to the SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central. (Provisioning Opt-In)
• SAP added validation mapping for all address fields for Germany as legal entities in Germany are required to store the addresses of
employees and their dependents in a way that is legally compliant. (Admin Opt-In)
• The following name elements are now available for configuration in the Name Format content: Business last name, Business first
name, Business last name Alt1, Business first name Alt1, Business last name Alt2, Business first name Alt2. (Universal)

• You can now import and export the Corporate Data Model and Country or Region-Specific Corporate Data Model information
from the Admin Center. For example, to configure automatic approval for stalled workflows, you can export the Corporate Data Model
template from Admin Center, incorporate your changes, and then import it back to the system. You no longer require the help of an
implementation partner to import and export related changes. (Admin Opt-In)
• Rule contexts are now retained while importing a data model. Now, when you import a Data Model, that has rules associated with
them, they’re no longer reset to Yes. All existing rule contexts are preserved by Manage Business Configuration. By retaining rule
contexts, the system no longer resets them to a default value. (Universal)

H1 2020 Quick Preview – Employee Central & Platform
• In Employee Central Position Management, SAP has added a new feature to trigger events each time a new position is created or an
existing position is updated. These events flow through intelligent services and can be subscribed to for the purpose of creating further
actions. Each event stores details of the position created or updated. It was found necessary to facilitate automated actions to be taken by
subscribers of the event. An example would be users of Recruiting Management. (Admin Opt-In)

• To support the existing Enforce New Employment feature where tax or data privacy legislation or company rules require it, you can now
create a business rule to enforce a new employment for a proposed legal entity change in Job Information or during rehire.
The rule validates changes made in Job Information. So, when an employee changes legal entity, the system validates the change based
on the rule configuration. The validation either approves the changes or enforces a new employment. During rehire, the only valid scenario
is to rehire with new employment. (Admin Opt-In)

• If you use an external system to plan employees' shifts, you can now transfer temporary planned working time to Employee
Central Time Off using an OData API (TemporaryTimeInformation). You can upload shifts for a single day or for a specific period by using
either a work schedule or a day model as a reference. Employee Central Time Management can then act as the single source of all your
up-to-date PlannedWorkingTime data. (Admin Opt-In)
• The Team Absence Calendar now enables managers to display additional information that gives them a better overview of their
direct and indrect reports' time off. Specifically, as a manager you can now:
− Search for employees outside your immediate reporting hierarchy and view information for your (in)direct reports
− Display a monthly view of the calendar in addition to the weekly view
− See the name of the holiday and the absence type or leave type that an employee is taking
These enhancements have been introduced to fulfill customer requests that managers be able to see more than just their direct reports in
the calendar. (Universal)

H1 2020 Quick Preview – Employee Central & Platform
• SAP enhanced the My Workflow Requests (Advanced To-do) page to show customized key details about workflows. Such essential
information helps users make quick decisions about their workflows. Key details are a summary of critical facts about a workflow. Now,
customers can configure which types of detail are shown for a specific workflow type on the My Workflow Requests (Advanced To-do)
page. Often a glance at these key details is enough for them to decide what they want to do with the workflows. There's no need to open
a workflow details page anymore. In the 1H 2020 release, SAP supports customizing key details only for position workflows. With
customizable key details, users have immediate access to the information that's critical for efficient decision making. (Admin Opt-In)
• SAP enhanced the auto delegation feature so that users can specify a period during which they want their workflows
automatically delegated to others for approval. By picking up a start time and an end time, users can now specify a period when their
auto delegation remains effective. Workflows triggered during that period are automatically delegated to a chosen delegatee for approval.
When that period ends, auto delegation is automatically turned off. They don't need to log into the system and turn off the feature
manually, as they previously did. The enhancement offers users more flexibility, by allowing them to set up auto delegation ahead of when
they need it and by turning it off automatically when they don't need it. (Universal)

• You can now use role-based permissions to control the access to profile photos anywhere on the user interface and the access to
all types of profiles photos through OData API. This enhancement ensures that all profile photos have permission controls to meet
your company's data protection and privacy requirements. (Universal)
