Q3 2019 Quick Preview – Employee Central & Platform
• Previously, when you wanted to change user IDs in cases such as company acquisition or employee relocation, a support ticket was
needed. The user ID conversion process was costly and time-consuming. Now, SAP introduces an assignment ID that defines the
relationship between a person and a company. It is unique and can be changed using the convertAssignmentIdExternal function
import. Starting with Q3 2019, assignment ID is used to identify users across the HCM Suite, in import and export tools, in the user
interface, in APIs, and in reports. User ID still exists, but SAP recommends that you use it for system integration. Note: Data protection
and privacy features do not fully support assignment ID at this time. If you use these features, make sure that user ID and assignment ID
values are the same and do not make changes to assignment ID. (Universal)
• Previously, when you updated user information using Employee Import or Basic User Import, all records were updated. Now, only
new and updated fields will be imported. This leads to improved import performance. (Universal)

Previously, the permission to view photos only controlled the visibility of profile photos in the People Profile header. Now, this permission
is extended to control the visibility of photos in people search results, directory search results, Badge block, Org Chart (block level), notes
list in Notes block, note viewers list in the Add Note page, PDF Print Preview for Badge and Org Chart, and the Manager field in User Info
block as well as the People Profile header. (Universal)

In the previous release, SAP SuccessFactors introduced Enhanced Managed Pending Hires for Onboarding 1.0 and Employee Central
integration. You can now use Enhanced Manage Pending Hires in Employee Central and Recruiting Integration scenario.
Enhanced Manage Pending Hires comes with configurable columns and configurable column names. You can enable Enhanced Pending Hires
from Manage Employee Central Settings and access Configure Columns for Manage Pending Hires from Admin Center to configure your
columns. (Universal)

• Before this release, OData API supported the following entities to handle deleted objects support for expanded entities: PerEmail,
PerPhone, PerAddressDEFLT, and EmpJobRelations. In this release, SF also supports: PerNationalId, EmpPayCompNonRecurring,
PerEmergencyContact, and EmpWorkPermit. (Admin Opt-in)
• The Compound Employee API provides a new parameter: segmentsForEnhancedEffectiveEndDateFilter. Use it if you include the
effective_end_date parameter in the query request and you want the API to return multiple events carried out for the Job Information and
Compensation Information segments on the same day. Previously, if multiple events were carried out in Employee Central on the same
day and the effective end date was after that day, only the latest event was returned by the API because only this event has a time slice
that overlaps with effective_end_date. By setting the segmentsForEnhancedEffectiveEndDateFilter parameter you can ensure that the
downstream system stores all events and can react to them accordingly. The parameter is supported in the full transmission and the
snapshot modes of the API. Using it requires that you specify either allJobChangesPerDay or allCompensationChangesPerDay for the
resultOptions parameter. (Universal)
• The Background OData API can now access fields configured as 'hidden' in the data model. These fields continue to remain hidden
on the UI. (Universal)
• You can now use OData APIs to query the configuration details of the People Profile page, header, blocks, fields, sections, and
subsections. These API entities include EmployeeProfilePageConfig, EmployeeProfileBlockContent, EmployeeProfileBlockLink,
EmployeeProfileFieldConfig, EmployeeProfileHeaderConfig, EmployeeProfileSectionConfig, and EmployeeProfileSubSectionConfig. (Universal)

You can now generate an Employee Profile Data Change report, to audit changes to feedback data from Employee Profile, for all
users. Previously, you could only create a personal data change audit report for one user at a time. (Admin Opt-in)

• Benefit eligibility rules are now evaluated as of the enrollment effective date. This enrollment effective date can be a past or future
date. For example, assume a new hire who joined on Jan 20, 2019, requests to enroll on Jan 30, 2019, but with enrollment effective from
Jan 20, 2019. All the eligibility rules attached to the benefit during enrollment are evaluated as of Jan 20, 2019 (enrollment effective from
date). (Universal)
• Previously, the allowance details were displayed in a quickcard alongside an allowance benefit. Now, an employee can also view new
fields Effective From date and Request Dates with existing fields Amount and Frequency under each allowance in the allowance
section. (Universal)
• Previously, employees could not view their previous year's claims. Now, under the Benefit History page, employees can view previous
years' claims. (Universal)

• SAP currently supports replicating a foreign address where the country of employment has an address infotype with a secondary infotype
and in the country of the foreign address the address infotype has no secondary infotype. In addition, SAP also supports replicating a
foreign address where the country of employment has an address infotype that has no secondary infotype and in the
country of the foreign address the address infotype has a secondary infotype. (Admin Opt-in)
• If you replicate an organizational object from Employee Central to the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, and if you later
change its start date in Employee Central to a later date, the change is now correctly recorded in the Object (1000) infotype
in the ERP system. Previously, the ERP system cut the existing time slice at the new start date, but it also kept the time slice before. The
old behavior meant: a redundant time slice remained that extended from the original start date to the day before the new start date. ERP
now removes this redundant time slice and keeps only the time slice that begins with the new start date. Default relations of the
organizational object to other objects are adjusted accordingly. Custom relationships must be adjusted separately using the Set New Start
Date (RHBEGDA0) program. (Universal)
• SAP recommends that you use new employment for international transfer from ERP to Employee Central. If you have not used
single employment for international transfer till now, then you can only use new employment for international transfer on Employee
Central. (Admin Opt-in)

• Previously, processors used a single BizXDailyRuleProcessingBatchJob. To improve performance, BizXDailyRuleProcessingBatchJob
is now divided into multiple jobs based on processor type. (Universal)
• You can now use assignment ID for employees on concurrent employment and global assignment. To import the assignment ID,
use the Employment Details template for employees on concurrent employment, and the Global Information template for employees on
global assignment. Note that you can only add assignment ID for new employees. (Admin Opt-In)
• With Q3 2019 release, Employee Central Imports use centralized services activated out-of-the-box. The centralized services are currently
extended to work with biographical and email information imports. You can now apply business rules to be executed while
importing biographical and email information of employees, provided you have the necessary role-based permissions. You can
suppress identical records while importing email information of employees, provided you have also enabled the option to suppress
identical records in your Company System and Logo Settings. If you don't want to use centralized services with Employee Central Imports,
you can disable the option in your Company System and Logo Settings. (Admin Opt-In)
• Previously, when you imported employment information of an employee, you provided the user id of the respective employee as the key
import files. You now use the Person-ID-External field to import Job Information, Compensation Information, and Pay
Component Recurring information of employees. The Person-ID-External field is unique for employees having multiple user ids.
However, you use the Person-ID-External field to update only the single active employment record of an employee on a given date.

• Previously, if you updated employee data in Employee Central and you used the Global Information entity in Full Purge mode, then
country-specific data in the import file replaced global information that was already linked with employee records. You now import global
information and cumulatively update employee records with country-specific data from the import file. You must have the
necessary role-based permission to perform this operation. (Admin Opt-In)

Now, designated approvers of a data purge request can view details about the purge schedule on the Purge Request Monitor to
help them make a decision about whether or not to approve the request. Before, only creators could view the schedule. (Admin Opt-in)

• Business Configuration UI (BCUI) now defaults the visibility of new base HRIS element or Country fields to edit as opposed to
No Selection. Defaulting them to No Selection created unnecessary warning messages. If an HRIS element is a person type
configuration, and if the field visibility is set to No Selection, you see a warning message that visibility is changed to edit. (Universal)
• The BCUI audit job report now displays the User ID of the user who made changes to a field. (Universal)
• SAP enhanced the Dynamic Group Filters in Business Configuration UI (BCUI). We added a new parameter called Extend By N
Days. By setting it, you can allow administrators to receive earlier access to employee data (for example, 30 days before a transfer). The
Extend By N Days parameter is supported for effective dated entities such as Compensation Information, Job Information, and so on.

• SAP enhanced sync job error handling. Even if the job itself succeeds, some of the data might not sync. In such cases, you see an
error and you can view the list of entities that were not created in Business Configuration UI (BCUI). (Universal)
• To avoid data syncing issues in Employee Profile, you cannot sync the mapping of some HRIS fields with the same standard
element type. For example, you cannot sync the department HRIS Field with the department standard field because department already
exists in the SAP SuccessFactors application. (Universal)

As an administrator, you can now upload company documents and make them visible to all users on their home pages. This
enhancement restores a new feature that was initially introduced in Q2 2019 but later withdrawn. You can now upload a document on the
Manage Documents page and assign it to one of the default document categories (Benefits, Policy, or Images) or assign it to a custom
category that you've created. Company documents are visible to all users on a new Company Documents tile on the home page, in the My
Info section. If no company documents have been uploaded to your system, the Company Documents tile is not visible. (Admin Opt-In)

• As of Q3 2019, admins can configure the system so that a user with a global assignment (GA) will not be redirected to the
(host) global assignment user when they log on. This change can be configuration in the Global Assignment Configuration object in
Manage Data. No changes to permission settings are required. This new configuration will also change the results in the search, so that
the search user is also redirected to the home assignment. (Universal)
• SAP added Address Validation. It validates employee and dependent addresses for a new hire. If addresses are invalid according to
Employee Central format, you see warnings or address proposals. You can edit the address or accept the proposed address. An HR
Administrator can enable the service in Admin Center > Manage Employee Central Settings and Admin Center > Manage Address
Validation Configuration. (Admin Opt-In)
• You can now access open to-do items from third-party applications from the Third-Party To-Do Items tile. If there is a third-
party to-do item, you will find this tile in the To-Do section on Home Page. Currently, only to-do items from ServiceNow is supported.

• As an administrator, you now can create a custom tile to distribute onboarding documents from the Home Page to specific users
or user groups. The target users can download the documents directly from the custom tile on the Home Page. (Provisioning Opt-in)
• Previously save rules that ran on parent objects with effective dated child objects (FROM_PARENT) were ignored. Now, the rules are run
on child objects as well. (Universal)
• Previously, search results displayed on the UI only showed results when the entire input text matched with the search text for
searchable fields such as External Code or External Name. Now, you can view all records containing even a part of the search text.
For example, if you searched for the value "Sales Marketing", all records with the values "Sales" or "Marketing" are displayed in the search
results. Also, the order of the text no longer matters, so you will see results for "Marketing Sales" as well. (Universal)

  • 3. 2019 Deloitte 3 Q3 2019 Quick Preview – Employee Central & Platform • Previously, when you wanted to change user IDs in cases such as company acquisition or employee relocation, a support ticket was needed. The user ID conversion process was costly and time-consuming. Now, SAP introduces an assignment ID that defines the relationship between a person and a company. It is unique and can be changed using the convertAssignmentIdExternal function import. Starting with Q3 2019, assignment ID is used to identify users across the HCM Suite, in import and export tools, in the user interface, in APIs, and in reports. User ID still exists, but SAP recommends that you use it for system integration. Note: Data protection and privacy features do not fully support assignment ID at this time. If you use these features, make sure that user ID and assignment ID values are the same and do not make changes to assignment ID. (Universal) • Previously, when you updated user information using Employee Import or Basic User Import, all records were updated. Now, only new and updated fields will be imported. This leads to improved import performance. (Universal) User Management H igh M edium L ow Impact / Importance M H L Previously, the permission to view photos only controlled the visibility of profile photos in the People Profile header. Now, this permission is extended to control the visibility of photos in people search results, directory search results, Badge block, Org Chart (block level), notes list in Notes block, note viewers list in the Add Note page, PDF Print Preview for Badge and Org Chart, and the Manager field in User Info block as well as the People Profile header. (Universal) System Permission In the previous release, SAP SuccessFactors introduced Enhanced Managed Pending Hires for Onboarding 1.0 and Employee Central integration. You can now use Enhanced Manage Pending Hires in Employee Central and Recruiting Integration scenario. Enhanced Manage Pending Hires comes with configurable columns and configurable column names. You can enable Enhanced Pending Hires from Manage Employee Central Settings and access Configure Columns for Manage Pending Hires from Admin Center to configure your columns.   • 4. 2019 Deloitte 4 Q3 2019 Quick Preview – Employee Central & Platform • Before this release, OData API supported the following entities to handle deleted objects support for expanded entities: PerEmail, PerPhone, PerAddressDEFLT, and EmpJobRelations. In this release, SF also supports: PerNationalId, EmpPayCompNonRecurring, PerEmergencyContact, and EmpWorkPermit. (Admin Opt-in) • The Compound Employee API provides a new parameter: segmentsForEnhancedEffectiveEndDateFilter. Use it if you include the effective_end_date parameter in the query request and you want the API to return multiple events carried out for the Job Information and Compensation Information segments on the same day. Previously, if multiple events were carried out in Employee Central on the same day and the effective end date was after that day, only the latest event was returned by the API because only this event has a time slice that overlaps with effective_end_date. By setting the segmentsForEnhancedEffectiveEndDateFilter parameter you can ensure that the downstream system stores all events and can react to them accordingly. The parameter is supported in the full transmission and the snapshot modes of the API. Using it requires that you specify either allJobChangesPerDay or allCompensationChangesPerDay for the resultOptions parameter. (Universal) • The Background OData API can now access fields configured as 'hidden' in the data model. These fields continue to remain hidden on the UI. (Universal) • You can now use OData APIs to query the configuration details of the People Profile page, header, blocks, fields, sections, and subsections. These API entities include EmployeeProfilePageConfig, EmployeeProfileBlockContent, EmployeeProfileBlockLink, EmployeeProfileFieldConfig, EmployeeProfileHeaderConfig, EmployeeProfileSectionConfig, and EmployeeProfileSubSectionConfig. (Universal) API H igh M edium L ow Impact / Importance M L M L L You can now generate an Employee Profile Data Change report, to audit changes to feedback data from Employee Profile, for all users. Previously, you could only create a personal data change audit report for one user at a time. (Admin Opt-in) Audit
  • 5. 2019 Deloitte 5 Q3 2019 Quick Preview – Employee Central & Platform • Benefit eligibility rules are now evaluated as of the enrollment effective date. This enrollment effective date can be a past or future date. For example, assume a new hire who joined on Jan 20, 2019, requests to enroll on Jan 30, 2019, but with enrollment effective from Jan 20, 2019. All the eligibility rules attached to the benefit during enrollment are evaluated as of Jan 20, 2019 (enrollment effective from date). (Universal) • Previously, the allowance details were displayed in a quickcard alongside an allowance benefit. Now, an employee can also view new fields Effective From date and Request Dates with existing fields Amount and Frequency under each allowance in the allowance section. (Universal) • Previously, employees could not view their previous year's claims. Now, under the Benefit History page, employees can view previous years' claims. (Universal) Benefits H igh M edium L ow Impact / Importance M L M L L • SAP currently supports replicating a foreign address where the country of employment has an address infotype with a secondary infotype and in the country of the foreign address the address infotype has no secondary infotype. In addition, SAP also supports replicating a foreign address where the country of employment has an address infotype that has no secondary infotype and in the country of the foreign address the address infotype has a secondary infotype. (Admin Opt-in) • If you replicate an organizational object from Employee Central to the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, and if you later change its start date in Employee Central to a later date, the change is now correctly recorded in the Object (1000) infotype in the ERP system. Previously, the ERP system cut the existing time slice at the new start date, but it also kept the time slice before. The old behavior meant: a redundant time slice remained that extended from the original start date to the day before the new start date. ERP now removes this redundant time slice and keeps only the time slice that begins with the new start date. Default relations of the organizational object to other objects are adjusted accordingly. Custom relationships must be adjusted separately using the Set New Start Date (RHBEGDA0) program. (Universal) • SAP recommends that you use new employment for international transfer from ERP to Employee Central. If you have not used single employment for international transfer till now, then you can only use new employment for international transfer on Employee Central. (Admin Opt-in) ERP Integration H
  • 6. 2019 Deloitte 6 Q3 2019 Quick Preview – Employee Central & Platform • Previously, processors used a single BizXDailyRuleProcessingBatchJob. To improve performance, BizXDailyRuleProcessingBatchJob is now divided into multiple jobs based on processor type. (Universal) • You can now use assignment ID for employees on concurrent employment and global assignment. To import the assignment ID, use the Employment Details template for employees on concurrent employment, and the Global Information template for employees on global assignment. Note that you can only add assignment ID for new employees. (Admin Opt-In) • With Q3 2019 release, Employee Central Imports use centralized services activated out-of-the-box. The centralized services are currently extended to work with biographical and email information imports. You can now apply business rules to be executed while importing biographical and email information of employees, provided you have the necessary role-based permissions. You can suppress identical records while importing email information of employees, provided you have also enabled the option to suppress identical records in your Company System and Logo Settings. If you don't want to use centralized services with Employee Central Imports, you can disable the option in your Company System and Logo Settings. (Admin Opt-In) • Previously, when you imported employment information of an employee, you provided the user id of the respective employee as the key import files. You now use the Person-ID-External field to import Job Information, Compensation Information, and Pay Component Recurring information of employees. The Person-ID-External field is unique for employees having multiple user ids. However, you use the Person-ID-External field to update only the single active employment record of an employee on a given date. (Universal) • Previously, if you updated employee data in Employee Central and you used the Global Information entity in Full Purge mode, then country-specific data in the import file replaced global information that was already linked with employee records. You now import global information and cumulatively update employee records with country-specific data from the import file. You must have the necessary role-based permission to perform this operation.   • 7. 2019 Deloitte 7 Q3 2019 Quick Preview – Employee Central & Platform • Business Configuration UI (BCUI) now defaults the visibility of new base HRIS element or Country fields to edit as opposed to No Selection. Defaulting them to No Selection created unnecessary warning messages. If an HRIS element is a person type configuration, and if the field visibility is set to No Selection, you see a warning message that visibility is changed to edit. (Universal) • The BCUI audit job report now displays the User ID of the user who made changes to a field. (Universal) • SAP enhanced the Dynamic Group Filters in Business Configuration UI (BCUI). We added a new parameter called Extend By N Days. By setting it, you can allow administrators to receive earlier access to employee data (for example, 30 days before a transfer). The Extend By N Days parameter is supported for effective dated entities such as Compensation Information, Job Information, and so on. (Universal) • SAP enhanced sync job error handling. Even if the job itself succeeds, some of the data might not sync. In such cases, you see an error and you can view the list of entities that were not created in Business Configuration UI (BCUI). (Universal) • To avoid data syncing issues in Employee Profile, you cannot sync the mapping of some HRIS fields with the same standard element type. For example, you cannot sync the department HRIS Field with the department standard field because department already exists in the SAP SuccessFactors application. This enhancement restores a new feature that was initially introduced in Q2 2019 but later withdrawn. You can now upload a document on the Manage Documents page and assign it to one of the default document categories (Benefits, Policy, or Images) or assign it to a custom category that you've created. Company documents are visible to all users on a new Company Documents tile on the home page, in the My Info section.   • 8. 2019 Deloitte 8 Q3 2019 Quick Preview – Employee Central & Platform • As of Q3 2019, admins can configure the system so that a user with a global assignment (GA) will not be redirected to the (host) global assignment user when they log on. This change can be configuration in the Global Assignment Configuration object in Manage Data. No changes to permission settings are required. This new configuration will also change the results in the search, so that the search user is also redirected to the home assignment. (Universal) • SAP added Address Validation. It validates employee and dependent addresses for a new hire. If addresses are invalid according to Employee Central format, you see warnings or address proposals. You can edit the address or accept the proposed address. An HR Administrator can enable the service in Admin Center > Manage Employee Central Settings and Admin Center > Manage Address Validation Configuration. (Admin Opt-In) • You can now access open to-do items from third-party applications from the Third-Party To-Do Items tile. If there is a third- party to-do item, you will find this tile in the To-Do section on Home Page. Currently, only to-do items from ServiceNow is supported. (Admin Opt-in) • As an administrator, you now can create a custom tile to distribute onboarding documents from the Home Page to specific users or user groups. The target users can download the documents directly from the custom tile on the Home Page. (Provisioning Opt-in) • Previously save rules that ran on parent objects with effective dated child objects (FROM_PARENT) were ignored. Now, the rules are run on child objects as well. (Universal) • Previously, search results displayed on the UI only showed results when the entire input text matched with the search text for searchable fields such as External Code or External Name. Now, you can view all records containing even a part of the search text. For example, if you searched for the value "Sales Marketing", all records with the values "Sales" or "Marketing" are displayed in the search results. Also, the order of the text no longer matters, so you will see results for "Marketing Sales" as well.
