Needs Assessment:
o Professionals who are expected to deliver PowerPoint
presentations are at a loss to the guidelines of what constitutes
an effective and visually pleasing PowerPoint presentation.
o In general, people are fearful of speaking publicly and they are
also afraid of technology; therefore, when they are faced with
the challenge of presenting they resort to their outdated
methods that may not be very effective. There is a barrage of
guidelines about effective powerpoint presentations available
online and in print; however, it is difficult for a student or
professional to decipher through the mass. This becomes
difficult because the guidelines are subjective and there is no
consensus on which guidelines should be followed.
o The recommended solution is that we will provide a simple
rubric with guidelines for efffective powerpoint presentations
that will not be overwhelming for those individuals who need to
develop a powerpoint presentation.
